Position Summary:                                       

This position leads all local database management, custom application support, local application upgrades and reporting systems management for BD Columbus West, focusing on OEE and Local Application support. Supports MES modules, ensures system resilience, and drives special projects to improve operational efficiency.  Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.  Regular attendance is an essential job function.  Ability to read and write and converse in English.  Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Duties/Responsibilities:   

  • Support for machine/line data collection reporting and other data sourced systems by developing reports with focus on OEE and Improvement.  Also includes training end users on reporting tools.

  • Assist multiple Continuous Improvement teams and projects with their required data needs and reports.

  • Learning database Data, Structure and Tables is required to build datasets for reporting and support of related systems and applications. 

  • Ownership of local databases and related systems.

  • Leader and Owner of select upgrade projects of mfg systems local databases, applications and reporting.

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving of IT applications systems you are assigned, to identify, analyze, and resolve system errors and process inefficiencies to minimize disruptions to operations.  This includes design, engineering, vendor support, validation and infrastructure knowledge to maintain resilience in systems you are assigned.

  • Keep database systems current, secure and well documented and be able to report out on their status at any time.

  • Power BI is the primary reporting system for Becton Dickinson. Other reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and Data Depot are also in use and experience is preferred in those.  Good knowledge of Power BI is a requirement.

  • Utilize BD’s Computer Systems Validation application for systems and applications as required.

  • Support MES Apriso modules: LMM, AutoLP, Production Links, Data Collection.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including troubleshooting steps, workflows, FAQs and SOP’s, for systems you are assigned to.

  • Assist other OT team members as backup to some of their compute systems that support manufacturing.

  • Escalate issues properly and effectively and ensure timely resolution by coordinating with relevant teams.

  • Manage special projects as assigned, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet customer expectations.

  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Education:

  • Associates degree in IT or related field required

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field preferred

Experience:         

  • 2 years IT experience in application and reporting systems required

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

  • Previous experience with MS Office, Collaboration tools and Windows required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • MS Office, Collaboration tools and Windows – Proficient

  • IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, etc. – Basic

  • Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences – Proficient

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail – Proficient

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision – Proficient

  • Organizational and analytical skills, with a results-oriented mindset – Proficient
