Job Description Summary

Holds full ownership of the assigned Manufacturing Unit and is responsible for leading Production, Maintenance activities on the production floor, and Engineering Processes. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations while delivering results across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People (SQDCP) through the application of BD Excellence.

Sets goals, drives accountability, develops organizational capability, and fosters a high performance culture aligned with BD Values. This role also ensures compliance with BD Quality Systems, policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Production Management

  • Lead all daily Production operations to meet SQDC targets and exceed customer expectations.

  • Oversee execution of production schedules, resource allocation, labor planning, and workflow optimization.

  • Monitor KPIs such as OEE, scrap, downtime, yield, and throughput; identify and eliminate sources of loss.

  • Ensure adherence to GMPs, quality standards, documentation practices, and operational procedures.

  • Collaborate with Logistics to confirm material readiness and delivery performance to production plans.

  • Drive continuous improvement in line performance, standard work, and equipment utilization.

Maintenance Responsibilities (Production Floor)

  • Oversee all maintenance activities for equipment and assets located on the production floor.

  • Ensure execution and sustainability of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.

  • Partner with Maintenance leadership to prioritize work orders, coordinate planned shutdowns, and respond to urgent equipment issues.

  • Provide support for troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and automation failures.

  • Ensure Maintenance technicians follow all EHS requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and equipment‑specific safety procedures.

  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop and execute equipment improvement plans, upgrades, and reliability strategies.

Engineering Process Leadership

  • Lead the Process Engineering function that supports manufacturing operations.

  • Ensure strong process capability and standardization through PFMEA, control plans, process flows, work instructions, validations, and equipment qualifications.

  • Drive process optimization initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, enhance quality, and improve cost performance.

  • Lead or support new equipment installations, commissioning, validations, and integration into production.

  • Collaborate with Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain on engineering solutions that enhance compliance and operational performance.

  • Champion modernization, automation, and technology‑driven improvements within the Manufacturing Unit.

Leadership & Operational Accountability

  • Accountable for delivering all key strategic, operational, and functional goals.

  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Unit team with a focus on capability building, engagement, and accountability.

  • Coordinate and align all activities within the unit and set priorities that support business needs.

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, including production, maintenance, and engineering.

  • Establish challenging SQDCP goals and cascade them into measurable expectations for areas, lines, and individual team members.

  • Resolve operational issues promptly while exhibiting servant leadership and modeling BD Values.

BD Excellence, TMS, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the TMS cycle and set the 24‑hour direction for the Manufacturing Unit.

  • Facilitate and sustain BD Excellence implementation, including DTM processes, CIL/CL standards, and loss‑elimination tools.

  • Lead change initiatives to meet both short‑term and long‑term SQDCP objectives.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties as required to support the needs of the business and site operations.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree: Required – Science, Industrial management, Business, Engineering or related field

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment demonstrated people‑leadership experience is required.

  • Experience with molding processes, preferably within a regulated, automated, and high‑volume manufacturing environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of safety principles and ergonomic practices required in a regulated pharmaceutical setting.

  • Manage budget management, cost‑reduction initiatives, and financial impact of operational decisions.

  • Strong analytical and root‑cause analysis skills, particularly in a robotics‑enabled, highly automated environment.

  • Proven capability in fostering collaboration, building high‑performing teams, and driving engagement.

  • Ability to operate with autonomy, prioritize effectively, and take proactive ownership of outcomes.

  • Skilled in evaluating complex situations, applying sound judgment, and making data‑driven decisions aligned with business priorities.

  • Ability to lead cross‑functional projects, manage timelines, and ensure sustainable implementation.

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical quality standards, compliance requirements, and documentation practices.

  • Foundational knowledge of material flow, scheduling, and coordination within a manufacturing ecosystem.

  • Ability to use digital tools to analyze data, manage information, and support operational decision‑making.

Desired Skills/ Experience:

  • Lean Manufacturing Certification, demonstrating foundational knowledge of structured continuous improvement methodologies.

  • CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification, reflecting advanced understanding of production planning and materials management.
