Position Summary

The Associate DirectorBD Excellence Commercial will be responsible foroptimizing lean methodologies, focusing on Funnel Management, supporting the deployment of process excellence in commercial execution across the organizationThis role will work under the direction of the Sr Director Commercial BD Excellence to partner with commercial leaders across the BD Business Units and Regions to ensure the successful implementation of a best-in-class commercial ecosystem and commercial operating model for BD.Workingwith various departments to ensure the successful deployment of operating models and processes that align with the company's strategic objectives, this individual will implement and deploy best-in-class practices that improve day-to-day process rigor and efficiencies in commercial execution. In addition to developing and installing best in class tools, this individual will also be responsible for driving a continuous improvement culture across BD.  

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with the Sr Director Commercial BD Excellence on the development, deployment and implementation of the commercial excellence strategy, including tools,frameworks and the global standardization of the commercial ecosystem (SFDC, Marketo,PowerBI, ServiceNow).

  • Develop and deploy best in classglobal maturity assessments. Working with BD Excellence Commercial Leaders, own successful implementation, adoption, and sustainment of maturity within WWBusiness Units and Regions.

  • Under the leadership of the Sr. Director Commercial BD Excellence, build and own the global implementation of theBD Excellence commercial tools, includingFunnel Management, Launch Excellenceand other BD Excellence tools. 

  • In partnership with the BD Commercial Excellence organization, support their efforts to refine and standardize SFDC usage, alignment and adoption,encompassed within the BD Way of Selling. 

  • Work closely with global stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the commercial excellence ecosystem and tools meet those requirements.Anticipate evolving needs and trends to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and optimized performance in commercial execution.

  • Take a hands-on approach to support the WW Business Units in solving mission-critical problems that require an “all hands-on deck” approach.

  • Facilitate and train across multiple stakeholder groups, whilst delivering ongoing support to global leaders and associates to ensure successful adoption of the new commercial excellence tools. Work with the WW Business Unit and regional BD Excellence Leaders to establish certified practitioners for commercial excellence tools, includingFunnel Management, Problem Solving, Kaizen, and associated workshops.

  • Working in close collaboration with the global Business Unit BD Excellence Leaders, cascade the continuous improvement and entrepreneur mindset to embed BD Excellence into BD’s culture.

  • Track the performance of deployed commercial excellence tools and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.Drive implementation, and use of bowlers, key performance indicators, and action plans to drive andprovide visibility of performance via metrics.

  • Deputize for the Sr Director Commercial BD Excellence in their absence in key meetings and workshops.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes to enhance the commercial execution across the organization, with specific focus on global Funnel Management as a first priority.

  • Maintain detailed & up-to-date documentation of commercial excellence tools and any changes made.

  • Serve as a thought partner in commercial excellence tools to the BD leadership teams across the organization, supporting the adoption and deployment of BD Excellence tools and mindset across departments and regions. 

  • Be a change champion in the development and deployment of BD Excellence tools and mindset

  • Become a certified practitioner (can teach and execute) in the BD Excellence fundamentals of Visual Management(VM)/ Daily Management (DM), Problem Solving Process (PSP), and Kaizen.Utilize tools as facilitator of problem-solving/kaizen sessions across all areas (commercial, innovation, operations, functions).

  • Drive BD Excellence education by providing broad coaching and training. Collaborate on the development and roll-out of the BD Excellence Advanced Practitioner and Certified Practitioner programs with specific focus on the BD Excellence Commercial Tools (i.e. Funnel Management), in partnership with the BD Excellence Learning & Development team.

Education

  • Universitybachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or a related field is required

  • MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.

Experiences

  • Six (6)+ years of commercial sales and marketing experience with a proven track record of driving processes to achieve results, ideally with experience as a sales representative or sales leaderCommercial operations experience is desirable.

  • Five (5)+years proven experience in a company with continuous improvement culture and the core tools of visual management, problem solving, and kaizen are embedded in all aspects of the business.  

  • Extensive experience with Salesforce.com (funnel management, dashboards, standard work) and Marketing automation tools (Showpad, Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot) preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experienced in using tools such as MS Excel proficiencyand SAP knowledge.Experience using tools like Power BI, Einstein, etc., to visualize sales data.

  • Proven track record of Strategic Agility with a growth mindset and the desire to learn fast.

  • Ability to work through complexity, taking on new challenges in a complex, matrixed environment, demonstrating success within an accelerated timeframe.

  • Change Management champion. Ability to drive culture and change. 

  • Action oriented individual who is highly proactive at solving problems and obtaining results.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent facilitation & training skills both in person and virtuallyAbility to sustain attention, create engagement, and hold all team members responsible for outcomes.

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines.

  • True love of continuous improvement, measuring results, and problem solving.

  • Demonstrated success in driving business impact through CI and Kaizen initiatives, particularly in commercial organizations and in a fast-changing environment.

Knowledge and Skills

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a regulatory environment (FDA) or field withinHealthcare and/orMedTech is advantageous but not essential.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of lean and six sigma business systems is preferred.Certified practitioner in lean tools is highly desirable including Change Management. 

  • Experience in a role that requires extensive travel to go to Gemba.

  • Proven experience succeeding in a role where the team expects you to be the expertDemonstrated ability to coach and drive outcomes.

  • Ability to adapt to changing business environments.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, c.50-70%.
