Position Summary

The Director, BD Excellence Change Management is responsible for leading the change management program for the BD Excellence Office.  This role will define the journey of change for BD Excellence as well as promoting the adoption of new tools and processes arising from the BD Excellence Office.

Reporting to the SVP, BD Excellence, the Change Management Director will work with the key stakeholders to build the change strategy for BD Excellence according to the people-readiness strategy, focusing on driving faster adoption and proficiency. The role will work closely with business and functional BD Excellence leaders, the BD Excellence Office and other key stakeholders as the architect of the change journey for BD Excellence; defining the change roadmap, building the change management framework and tools bespoke to the BD Excellence journey as well as establishing standardized change management tools and processes that can be leveraged by others.

This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, change management leader to define and deliver a robust multi-year change management journey that will drive consistency in messaging and practice, and influence the ways of working within a global organization.

Key Responsibilities

The objective of this role is to actively partner with a wide network of varied stakeholders to define and deliver the BD Excellence change management strategy, roadmap and communications.  The primary responsibilities will include:

Change Leadership

  • Apply and leverage a structured methodology to lead change management activities, the respective process and tools to ultimately enable adoption of the changes required by the Organization.

  • Lead the change impact analyses, assess readiness and develop mitigation plans in alignment with the creation of the change management strategy deliverables, including but not limited to the change management roadmap, stakeholder mapping, training and communications plans in support of change management,

  • Provide strategic direction for organizational changes initiatives with the primary objective of the position to serve and support BD Excellence Office programs and the deployment of BD Excellence tools.

  • Partner with the Commercial Systems organization to provide Change Management expertise and guidance in sponsorship of continuous improvement programs.

  • Establish frameworks and metrics to measure the adoption, effectiveness and sustainment of the BD Excellence change initiatives.

  • Act as a change advocate, inspiring and motivating teams to embrace change.

  • As part of the change management strategy for BD Excellence, identify and engage key stakeholders at all levels of the organization, contributing to stakeholder management identification, mapping and engagement.

  • Manage resistance to change and develop and implement actions to mitigate risks and maximize associate engagement.

  • As Change Management leader for BD Excellence, create a change framework and build relationships across the enterprise to enable the broader BD Excellence organizations to deliver on the business needs.

  • Partner with the BD Excellence teams to develop an understanding of change impacts beyond the BD Excellence office, mapping & supporting adoption of new ways of working to drive sustainable change across all levels in the organization.

  • Understand and apply assessment methodology to define roadmap, messages, sponsors and resistance problems. Contributes actively to change impact assessment and mitigating actions.

  • Provide coaching and support to leaders adapting to change in addition to leading Change capabilities.

  • Interface with Change Management partners to align methodology.

Communication Partnership

  • Support communication efforts in delivering and managing key communications to the change network.

  • Align communications with Change Management partners in relevant functions, business units or regions, cascading appropriate information & campaigns.

  • Drives the creation of personas and provides change management expertise as needed in the creation of BD Excellence communication campaigns.

  • Be a role model of a positive and adaptive culture that aligns with the evolving business environment.

  • Serve as a change champion, fostering a culture of agility, innovation, and continuous learning.

BDE Academy Change Management & Enablement Partnership

  • Provide expertise and partnership in the development of change management strategies to support adoption of new learning tools, processes, and programs within the scope of the BD Excellence Academy.

  • Partner with stakeholders to assess readiness and reinforce change through engagement and feedback loops.

Education

Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, communications, change management, or a related field is strongly preferred. Educational certificate or training in change management methodology.

Experiences

  • Proven experience in change management in a complex environment, with a minimum of 8 years in leadership roles.

  • Creative thinker, able to propose out-of-the-box ideas to drive engagement and excite audiences.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, or equivalent workflow tools.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple timelines.

  • Action oriented individual who is highly proactive at solving problems and obtaining results.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate a complex, matrix organization, the ability to effectively convey new concepts, tools and strategies with the ability to effectively tailor communications according to the audience.

  • Capacity to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty, consistently demonstrating the growth mindset and resilience in the face of obstacles.

  • Excellent facilitation & communication skills both in person and virtually.  Ability to hold individual’s attention, create excitement, and hold all team members responsible for outcomes.

  • The capacity to plan, organize, & complete projects on time. Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines. 

  • Strong project and program management processes, tools and technique.

  • True love of continuous improvement, measuring results, and problem solving.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset. Individual who can drive progress with limited oversight.

  • Certification in change management (e.g., Prosci) is highly desirable.

  • Exposure to LEAN methodologies
