As a Director of Corporate Communications, this individual will lead the development of a communications strategy that connects, enables and empowers BD’s commercial organization.
This role serves as a strategic communications advisor to BD’s Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), a member of BD’s Executive Leadership Team. The director will lead the development and execution of communications strategies that empower BD’s global commercial organization and reinforce our commitment to commercial excellence. As part of the CRO’s leadership team, this individual will develop and deliver narratives that drive engagement across BD business units, regions and customer-focused functions designed to accelerate BD’s performance edge and enable revenue growth. The director will have experience in commercial message development and lead a robust internal communications strategy that energizes the sales force around BD’s focus on operational and commercial execution, while enhancing understanding of the tools and technologies that enable accelerated business performance.
This individual will report to the Senior Director, Executive Communications, and will closely partner with colleagues across the company to develop measurable plans, campaigns and content that aligns with strategic business priorities and advance BD’s commercial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic advisor to CRO, ensuring consistent and compelling messaging across internal channels – including town halls, leadership videos, presentations, talking points, Q&As, and engagement initiatives – to drive alignment and inspire action
- Lead the development and execution of strategic internal communications plans to drive associate engagement and understanding of commercial priorities, initiatives, and tools and technologies that enable the sales organization to drive growth
- Implement and oversee internal communications vehicles that reach the sales force directly, bringing a creative lens to developing innovative content strategies that keep communications dynamic and engaging
- Support the development of strategic customer-facing content that highlights BD’s breadth and depth, ensuring all messaging is appropriately aligned to the current commercial narrative
- Serve as liaison between Revenue Office leadership and Corporate Communications to ensure alignment, sharing of best practices and appropriate inclusion of content within companywide communications
- Establish mechanisms for monitoring and measuring the value, impact and outcome of communication initiatives, and proactively adjust approach as needed based on metrics
- Design creative approaches to bring modern communications styles into the corporate setting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required – preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; Advanced degree is a plus
- Minimum of 12 years relevant professional corporate communications experience with substantial experience working in internal/external communications for a publicly traded health care company, highly regulated industry, or major global brand
- Proven ability to develop and execute internal communications strategies, create business-aligned content and deliver measurable outcomes across multiple channels
- Strong executive presence with a track record of influencing senior leadership, managing cross-functional programs and thriving in a matrixed organization
- Exceptional writing, presentation and storytelling skills; adept at crafting strategic narratives and managing sensitive information with discretion
- Willingness to challenge and present alternative options for consideration
