Job Description

We are the makers of possible

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

We believe that the human element, across our global teams, is what allows us to continually evolve. Join us and discover an environment in which you’ll be supported to learn, grow and become your best self. Become a maker of possible with us.

Position Overview: The Manager, Communications, Training and Engagement, Ethics, Compliance and Privacy (ECP), will play an important role in shaping and executing BD’s ECP communications and training strategy and driving associate engagement.  This position requires a professional who is passionate about contributing to a values-based culture by supporting a robust communications and training program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under guidance of the ECP Leadership Team, implement a comprehensive communications and training program for the ECP function, providing guidance, insights and practical recommendations as needed.

  • Enhance ECP visibility and program awareness through targeted, effective communication and training campaigns, translating complex topics into simplified, engaging messages while ensuring consistency and alignment with the company’s brand and legal standards.

  • Create and disseminate high-impact internal and external messaging, including talking points for town halls and other internal events, and ECP program updates, internal memos, newsletters, quick reference guides and function-level communications.

  • Lead multiple projects and initiatives that require collaboration across various areas of the business while balancing competing priorities, tight timelines, and prescribed budgets.

  • Support the development and delivery of high-visibility “tone from the top” communications and materials for company leaders, in alignment with the company's strategic goals and ethical standards.

  • Research, write, edit, and publish content for a variety of communication and training channels, including internal (company intranet, LMS, town halls, video scripts, e-mails, presentations, etc.) and external (e.g., social media), to emphasize BD’s commitment to a strong ethical culture.

  • Develop and disseminate case studies and success stories that illustrate the impact of the ECP program as a competitive advantage and reinforce behavioral expectations as it relates to culture, incentives, and discipline.

  • Incorporate annual risk assessment findings into communication and training plans, aligning messaging with identified risks and promoting awareness and mitigation efforts across the organization.

  • Manage training-related initiatives, including launches, reminders, and targeted communications, optimizing content and delivery methods to create engaging, adaptive and interactive ECP education.

  • Adapt messages for regions/business units as needed, ensuring that messaging is effectively tailored to diverse audiences and regional requirements.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications to ensure cohesive communication strategies and materials and the incorporation of ECP messaging into significant meetings and events (e.g. global town halls, National Sales Meeting, regional meetings, etc.).

  • Monitor and analyze communication and training metrics to assess effectiveness and recommend data-driven improvements.

  • Manage group mailbox and escalate queries as needed, manage updates to ECP platforms such as intranet page and app, including push notifications, and provide general department support, including logistics for internal events.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required with a focus in Communications, Marketing, Compliance, Law, or a related field preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a related field (i.e. Communications, Training, Compliance)

  • Proven track record of executing successful communication and/or training strategies.

  • Experience planning and/or hosting internal events, such as town halls, executive panels, and large meetings. Experience supporting internal communications programs, employee engagement initiatives, and leadership communications, including message development, content management, and strategic internal communications approaches.

  • Must be a strong editor and proofreader with superior attention to detail.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in a corporate environment.

  • Ability to translate complex topics into simplified language and graphics.

  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with proven ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships within a highly matrixed organizational structure.

  • Proficiency in communication tools and platforms, with strong analytical skills to assess communication effectiveness.

  • Exhibit the highest levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.

  • Team player – responsive, collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves approach – as well as the ability to think and work independently and make sound decisions.

  • Strong customer service mindset, flexible attitude, proactive, adaptable to change, and able to manage competing priorities.

  • Self-starter who is energized by working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, take initiative and work under tight deadlines.
