This role combines mechanical CAD Design and Finite Element Analysis working across disciplines, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring alignment with product expectations and customer needs. You will collaborate closely with peers, technicians, cross functional engineers, and also external suppliers involved in new product development.

Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile Design & Simulation Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to support both product development and sustaining engineering. This role combines mechanical design and Finite Element Analysis to deliver robust, well‑documented, and manufacturable solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys working across disciplines, solving complex technical challenges, and contributing to continuous improvement. A key part of this role is to translate internal needs into clear simulation requirements and to critically reviewstudies performed by external partners, ensuring alignment with product expectations and customer needs. You will collaborate closely with peers, technicians, cross‑functional engineers, and also external suppliers involved in new product development.
Responsibilities :
Build, execute and document Finite Elements Analysis Simulation studies using Abaqus from early feasibility through design verification.(required)
Identify and develop first‑principles reasoning to predict product behavior and support design decisions.(required)
Correlate simulation with test results, assess risks, and propose optimized or innovative modeling approaches.(required)
Communicate analysis outcomes through clear technical reports and participate in design reviews.(required)
Coordinate externally performed simulation work: define clear requirements, challenge assumptions, review deliverables, and ensure relevance and robustness. (required)
Translate internal technical needs (core team members) into structured simulation specifications for external partners.
Create 3D models supporting FEA and other simulation studies using SolidWorks. (required)
Support functional dimensioning in line with ISO GPS / ISO 8015 in technical drawings, and tolerance analyses.(plus)
Understand and Integrate DFM/DFA considerations, especially for molded parts and formed components.(plus)
Provide engineering support for existing products, design changes, investigations, and technology transfers.
Contribute to root cause analysis using test results, simulation, and statistical tools.
Follow internal quality procedures, design control requirements, and applicable safety and regulatory standards.
Work closely with cross‑functional partners (testing, manufacturing, quality).
Engage in continuous learning to expand technical breadth and improve tools, methods, and workflows.
Contribute to protecting BD intellectual property.
Required qualifications:
Our ideal profile is a motivated and dynamic R&D Engineer with competencies in both FEA and CAD, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to interact positively with internal and external stakeholders.
The key requirements for this role can be summarized as follows:
Master’s degree in Mechanical/Design Engineering, Simulation, material science or related field.
3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience (including internships/apprenticeships)
Experience in medical devices or pharmaceutical environments is a plus.
Good knowledge of SolidWorks (advanced modeling and drawings).
Practical experience with Abaqus, nonlinear FEA modelling and material characterization integration.
Understanding of tolerancing, ISO standards, and mechanical behavior.
Knowledge of metrology, manufacturing processes and statistical approaches (capability, R&R, DOE is a plus).
Familiarity with design control and engineering change processes.
Excellent communication, listening, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to translate needs into actionable simulation requirements and to challenge external work constructively.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Curiosity, adaptability, and a hands‑on mindset.
Team player with a collaborative attitude and a service‑oriented approach.
Ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple tasks with rigor and ownership.
Fluent French mandatory.
Professional English, including written technical documentation and participation in meetings.
