Our Peripheral Intervention (PI) business unit offers a comprehensive range of medical products, devices and services for the treatment of peripheral arterial and venous disease, cancer detection, and end-stage renal disease and maintenance.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Test Engineer to join our global R&D team in a 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract and ensure the quality of complex software for medical applications. In this role, you will test and document board-level C/C++ firmware, contributing across the full software development lifecycle while maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory standards. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to support integration, troubleshooting, and testing activities throughout the entire product lifecycle—from concept development to commercialisation and post-market support. This position offers a unique opportunity to help deliver reliable, high-performance firmware solutions that power life-changing healthcare technologies in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, review, and execute test cases (manual and automated), along with supporting test documentation.

  • Contribute to and perform verification and validation activities.

  • Execute sprint tasks with appropriate oversight, ensuring timely and quality delivery.

  • Break down tasks clearly, provide progress updates and time estimates, and take ownership of deliverables.

  • Align work with team planning and ensure consistency with project schedules.

  • Adhere to R&D and Business Unit Quality Management Systems.

  • Follow and optimize product development and delivery processes.

  • Implement design and change control procedures.

  • Collaborate with Firmware and System Engineering teams to reproduce issues, resolve bugs, and gather data for system-level testing.

  • Work closely with multi-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering.

  • Support regulatory submissions and audits as required.

  • Maintain traceability between requirements and test protocols, records, and reports.

  • Contribute to configuration management and participate in design and milestone reviews.

  • Apply Agile methodologies and CI/CD principles to enhance quality and performance.

  • Support sustaining engineering activities.

  • Follow established best practices for software quality assurance.

  • Actively engage in team ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

  • Log detailed firmware bugs in Azure DevOps and ensure timely resolution in accordance with Business Unit standards.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders on significant technical matters across cross-functional teams.

  • Follow good laboratory practices for qualifying, validating, and maintaining tools and equipment.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with relevant industry experience.

  • Proficiency in various testing strategies, including regression, functional, acceptance, integration, black-box, white-box, and exploratory testing.

  • Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proactive and self-motivated problem-solving approach.

  • Ability to take ownership of key work from inception to completion.

  • Experience in medical device testing is a plus.

  • ISTQB certification is advantageous.

  • Having familiarity with IEC 62304 will be beneficial.

This is a Fixed Term Position ( 6 months contract)
