The Field Service Engineer  for BD Pyxis Dispensing Devices is accountable for independently providing efficient and effective field service support to all BD dispensing customers within a given territory in a timely manner, including, but not limited to service and repair, preventative maintenance, calibration, installations, and limited cross-functional support for Sales and Implementation teams.

The Field Service Engineer is a remote field-based position with daily travel to our customer locations within the assigned territory. Ideal candidates will reside within a 30-mile radius of Miami/ Fort Lauderdale, FL. Company vehicle provided. 5% overnight travel possible and a valid driver’s license is required.

Relocation Assistance MAY be available for the right candidate.

Work Schedule Monday to Friday  8-5, on call rotation on weekends and after hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide both remote and on-site technical support for BD Pyxis automated dispensing systems in healthcare facilities, responding to work orders by diagnosing, servicing, and resolving hardware and software issues while maintaining thorough documentation of all activities.

  • Implement preventive maintenance programs and support BD's Sales and Implementation teams while demonstrating superior problem-solving abilities for both hardware and software components of the Pyxis systems.

  • Deliver efficient field services to customers including installations, repairs, calibrations, and in-service training, ensuring all services are completed in a timely manner according to customer support agreements.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of corporate policies and procedures, including proper handling of customer complaints and Medical Device Reporting requirements, while providing accurate documentation of field activities and expenses.

  • Commit to ongoing professional development through continuous training on company products and applications, attending management-approved seminars and training sessions with the goal of advancing skills and progressing to the next career level within 3-5 years.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma

  • 3-5 years of related work experience or a combination of Hardware/Software/IT experience

  • 24x7 on-call experience in a customer-facing/field service environment, required

  • Computer electronics, Windows OS, network experience, required

  • Medical device or electromechanical device service/repair experience, required

  • Customer Support Certification, required

  • Must be able to work within defined processes and methodologies with minimal degree of supervision

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior experience working as a hospital pharmacy technician or in a hospital Bio-Med environment, a plus


Physical Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to operate various powered tools including drills and powered screwdrivers, as well as manual tools such as sockets, crescent wrenches, and screwdrivers for extended periods during full workdays.

  • Capable of maintaining multiple body positions (sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, and standing) repeatedly throughout an 8-10 hour workday while assembling and repairing instrument suites.

  • Sufficient strength to push and pull heavy objects mounted on casters safely and effectively as required by job duties.

  •  Ability to perform precise fine motor tasks while reaching during extended work periods of 8-10 hours, maintaining accuracy and quality throughout the day.

  • Qualified to drive for extended periods up to 6 hours, including in challenging and adverse weather conditions, while maintaining focus and safety standards.
