The Associate Director, Procurement Japan is responsible for managing procurement team in developing/implementation of Procurement category strategies and sourcing activities for the assigned direct & indirect procurement categories across all BD Japan legal entities including manufacturing site. This role is also responsible for continuous improvement of Direct & Indirect Procurement Process Compliance, support implementation of global/regional procurement process improvement projects across the market.Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Responsible to gather and provide business requirements and other key inputs for assigned market practices, strategic projects through the strategic sourcing process, working in strategy / business priority alignment, collaboration with country leadership team, manufacturing site team leaders, project core team members and global/regional category teams.
- Responsible for leading procurement team and driving the implementation of the applicable tactics under sourcing strategies impacting Japan market.
- Responsible for driving procurement team on sourcing execution including bid analysis, supplier selection and negotiation planning, and selected implementation activities including procurement aspects of supplier qualification and implementation as well as supplier management.
- Responsible for communication of BD Japan relevant direct & indirect category sourcing strategies with key stakeholders in local, regional & global.
- Responsible for customer relationships with stakeholders for assigned categories within Japan & Greater Asia region.
- Responsible for a wide range of two-way communication with and in support of Japan market including, but not limited to approval of new supplier additions, confirmation on pricing inquiries, communication of changes for contracted items in area of responsibility, compliance to supplier management metrics and procurement policies, governance and controls.
- Responsible for leading Japan procurement to deliver strategic supplier negotiation planning, negotiation and contracting with suppliers and ensuring that agreements reflect needs.
- Responsible for leading supplier relationship management activities for key assigned suppliers within Japan. May contribute to local supplier management activities for regional suppliers.
- Responsible for monitoring & improving source to pay process, inclusive of customer-centric support content and preferred payment methods, as part of sourcing strategies.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement of Category Sourcing Process Compliance, inclusive of Buysmart process communication and improvement, increase of supplier catalog adoption rate across assigned geographical countries/territories.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead BD Japan procurement team to drive substantial value of supplier contracts, insure availability for goods or services at optimum quality and cost levels
- Provides budget forecast input for area of responsibility. Jointly accountable for final standards and annual and quarterly forecast to Finance and GAR Procurement Leadership team.
- Improve financial position through cost savings, cash-flow improvement, non-price value opportunities and supply risk mitigation.
- Drive BDJ LT stakeholder engagement through meeting business needs by leading implementation of approved Sourcing strategies.
- New supplier identification & development, include into bidding and bid analysis for Japan
- Manage BDJ Procurement team & performance, ensure that procurement team members follow established procedures, practices and policies in selecting, contacting suppliers, placing orders and ensuring timely delivery.
- Procurement team talent selection, development, and performance management to ensure goal achievement of Japan procurement organization vs Global Procurement leadership team’s requirement.
JOB REQUIREMENT
- Minimum ten years of related work experience in MNC environment
- Cross Japan team & sourcing project management experience and proven record.
- Experience in Category strategy development & implementation, familiar with STP process & ERP system
- Solid Strategic sourcing process & category experience (Supply chain category, MarCom category, Facility & Real Estate category / ideally with direct material sourcing experience)
- Strong stakeholder engagement & SRM skill.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English & Japanese. Experience in cross cultural negotiation and relationship management is preferred.
- + 5 years’ People Management experience
- Bacherlor's Degree mandate, MBA or equivalent degree / NAPM certification / APICS certification preferred
