Job Summary:
The OptiBuild Technician II is responsible for performing basic and intermediate OptiBuild production process, both manual and automated, according to established procedures and work instructions. The associate is responsible for managing their material inventories, daily production activities and quality documentation related to the production of finished products. This includes the ability plan and generate production orders from customer sales orders within the SAP environment. They must be able to read, understand and complete all OptiBuild documentation including batch records and material requests following standard operating procedures and/or work instructions. They must possess the ability to pull and manipulate data to maintain quality, productivity and other departmental and/or business metrics as required. The OptiBuild Technician II must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly diverse, team oriented work environment that requires effective communication and planning. The associate can process automated and manual production orders and communicate with management as issues arise.
Job Responsibilities:(Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)
Learn and understand:
All Custom Reagent Technician I responsibilities
Basic set up and assembly procedures
Intermediate Custom Order processing
Material inventory management and accountability
Working within the SAP production system
Competency in using the following OptiBuild equipment/software:
Manual and electronic single channel pipettes
Electronic scales
Zebra label printer
Semi-automatic bagger
TECAN EVO automation solution machines and relevant software
Other department equipment as necessary
Meet daily/weekly/monthly departmental production objectives efficiently and effectively with a high degree of quality.
Must have the ability to work with limited instruction on routine tasks and general instructions on new tasks.
Support departmental supplies and material management function including storing, retrieving and staging supplies/materials as required.
Support and participate in daily shift start up meetings and LDMS.
Support Continuous Improvement and Process Improvement projects.
Understand and input production data, as required, in the SAP system and/or other Production Planning/Manufacturing Resource database system(s).
Ability to pull data from the SAP system and/or other Production Planning / Manufacturing Resource database system(s) for manipulation and analysis.
Must have strong, clear communication skills to effectively communicate associate and/or department needs to management or other production groups.
Follow all department guidelines and procedures.
Follows BD Biosciences Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures. Takes responsibility for safety in immediate work area. Participates in EH&S programs. Notifies supervisors of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
Intermediate computer skills
Perform intermediate math calculations
3-5 years relevant work experience required
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks
Self-motivated, must have ability to work with minimal supervision
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficient learner with new tasks and methods
Great attention to production details
Strong teamwork attribute
Strong interpersonal skills, as much work is cross-functional within the company

Ability to lift 20-30 pounds unassisted.
