Operator 1, Warehouse Operations

Job Summary:
The Operator 1, Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing a variety of basic warehouse tasks, ensuring efficient and accurate movement of materials within our facility. This entry-level position supports the overall distribution process by assisting with receiving, stocking, picking, packing, and shipping activities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform basic material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, stacking, and moving products using manual methods or basic material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).

• Assist with receiving incoming shipments, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and reporting discrepancies.

• Support inventory management by accurately picking and packing orders according to established procedures.

• Prepare outgoing shipments, including labeling, weighing, and staging products for transportation.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.

• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all warehouse activities.

• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding daily tasks and any issues encountered.

• May assist with basic cycle counting or inventory verification tasks as directed.

• Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) such as forklifts or reach trucks, if certified and required by the role.

Job Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• 0-1 year of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions in English.

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout a shift.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.

• Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Forklift certification a plus, but not required for initial hiring. Willingness to be trained and certified on powered industrial trucks (PIT) as needed.

• Ability to work 12 hours shift (3-2-2-3) Day Shift 7a-7p

Work Environment:

• BD is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

• False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals.  Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. 

• Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
