Job Summary:
Produces molded parts by setting up, adjusting, and operating a single-cavity or multi-cavity press using a hydraulic press or electric press with heat staging capability. Initiates process by closing cavities of mold plate by bolting it into position on machine. Selects proper tooling for specific material being processed; assists in developing new tooling as needed. Positions dies and closes them to form impression in material. Heats molds and die cushions in electric ovens. Stages heating elements according to specifications. Takes samples at various stages of production run for laboratory testing. Weighs, packages, and labels finished product. Maintains records of daily production, rejects, scrap, downtime, etc., and resolves any issues that may arise during production. Reports any equipment problems or breakdowns immediately.
Responsibilities:
Operates presses utilizing standard operating procedures (SOP).
Troubleshoots basic press issues such as air leaks, low air pressure, and pneumatic clutch failure.
Loads/unloads materials manually or using hoist.
Performs simple maintenance tasks such as changing seals and wipers.
Cleans work area, presses, and associated equipment.
Inspects product for defects and makes minor adjustments when necessary.
Records data on press log sheets and other documentation.
Monitors the temperature of melt tanks, mix tanks, and extruders.
Adds colorants, lubricants, and other additives to the raw material.
Packs products in bags or boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working in manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Good communication skills.
Forklift certification preferred.
Computer literacy (capable of basic computer operations).
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
Work extended hours as required, including occasional weekends.
Work around moving mechanical parts.
Exposure to noise, vibration, and chemical fumes.
Work Environment:
BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy
False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
