We are seeking a Product Development Technician for our Brea, CA facility. This person contributes to the completion of routine technical tasks and develops solutions to routine technical problems of specified scope. Their contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the unit.

Responsibilities:

• Executes complex test requests with minimal assistance, gathers and manipulates technical data, produces engineering documents/reports/drawings, and maintains good documentation practice (GDP) and good laboratory practice (GLP) while effectively communicating test results.

• Supports equipment qualification (IQ, OQ), helps scope equipment for use, completes qualifications, and handles test specimens, equipment, and chemicals used for conditioning/testing while using appropriate PPE.

• Provides technical support to engineers on various tasks including conditioning samples, testing, failure investigation, test method development and validation, and prepares reports including quantitative analysis.

• Works with team on general lab functions including calibration, equipment maintenance, implementation of safety procedures, helps develop prototype processes and test set-ups, and follows BD policies and lab procedures.

• Trains and mentors junior team members on lab procedures and equipment use, notifies manager or team lead upon recognition of factors that may affect projects, and effectively documents and communicates test results and completion status.

Minimum Requirements: 

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree and minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

• Associates in Applied Science (AAS) and minimum of 4 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

• High School Diploma and minimum of 8 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

Preferred Requirements:

• Proficient in operating and troubleshooting mechanical test equipment, environmental conditioning chambers, and equipment calibration/maintenance. Demonstrates understanding of Design Control for verification and validation testing.

• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate with lab team members and extended stakeholders.

• Familiar with relevant standards and regulations including ISO, FDA, OSHA, and ASTM, with well-organized technical writing capabilities.

• Develops solutions to technical problems of limited scope and demonstrates familiarity with root cause analysis techniques.

• Capable of training lower-level technicians, with familiarity in statistics and software packages for preliminary data analysis.

Work Environment:

Laboratory environment - May need to use personal protective equipment (PPE) for certain tasks where they may encounter/use chemical or human body fluid for testing.
