LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois Area
The Field Service Engineer for BD Pyxis Dispensing Devices is accountable for independently providing efficient and effective field service support to all BD dispensing customers within a given territory in a timely manner, including, but not limited to service and repair, preventative maintenance, calibration, installations, and limited cross-functional support for Sales and Implementation teams.
The Field Service Engineer is a remote field-based position with daily travel to our customer locations within the assigned territory. Ideal candidates will reside within a 30-mile radius of where the position is based. Company vehicle provided. 5% overnight travel possible and a valid driver’s license is required.
Accountabilities of The BD Pyxis Field Service Engineer role:
They will provide remote and on-site technical support for BD Pyxis automated dispensing systems located within hospitals and other healthcare facilities within the region and in accordance with our customer support agreements, best-in-class of DHA/DoD facilities
Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize work orders; diagnose, service, and resolve issues regarding proprietary hardware and software system components, maintain ownership of the work order,
Implement a preventive maintenance program, provide limited multi-functional support for our Sales and Implementation teams, and other support activities as applicable to the role
Demonstrate a moderate use of proficiency and an appropriate ability to tackle hardware and software problems
Provide efficient field services to all BD customers in a timely manner, including but not limited to installations, in-servicing, repair, preventive maintenance, calibration, and sales support
Continue training and self-development to learn the products and applications of the company for success in the role, advance skills, and attend management approved seminars and training sessions to advance to the next level in 2-3 years
Qualifications for the BD Pyxis Field Service Engineer role:
Requirements:
High School diploma
3-5 years of combination Hardware/Software/IT experience supporting both proprietary and standard applications
Experience in a customer-facing/field service environment
Computer electronics, Windows OS, network experience
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards.
Role supports client 24x7. Must be available to be on an "On-call Rotation", to include, overnights, weekends and holidays.
On-Call Rotation: Rotating every 4th weekend, every 4th week (24/7) along with separate Holiday on-call rotation.
Schedule Preference: 12pm-9pm Shift, but open to considering candidates 8-5pm.
Additional Qualifications:
Prior experience working as a hospital pharmacy technician or in a hospital Bio-Med environment, a plus
Prior military Bio-Med experience, a plus
Lifting requirements - Ability to lift 70 lb. objects from the floor to chest level. Hand Powered Tools - Ability to operate powered drills, powered screw drivers, and other powered tools.
Manual Tool Manipulation - Ability to turn manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screw drivers repeatedly over the course of an 8-to-10-hour day.
Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly in an 8–10-hour period to assemble and repair instrument suites.
Ability to push and pull heavy objects (on casters).
Ability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching over the course of an 8–10-hour day.
Ability to carry a 40 lb. pack on your back or shoulder for up to 1 hour.
Ability to drive distances of up to 6 hours, and in adverse weather conditions.
Able to climb portable ladders and step stools.
May be required to wear a respirator while servicing equipment, thus must be able to pass a fit test and medical evaluation.
