Summary:
The Medical Affairs Associate Director of Operations will have an important role in updating, maintaining, and communicating medical affairs policies and procedures, and serving as a member of the leadership team.
This role will require extensive cross functional collaborative interaction within the Medical Affairs function, global and regional, and with other functions, especially Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and Ethics & Compliance.
Will manage several MA associates, including the leaders of medical communication, medical writing, external funding, coordination, safety, quality, and post-market surveillance regulatory documentation updating.
Responsibilities:
Provide collaborative medical affairs leadership across functions, working closely with cross-functional associates to ensure alignment of medical strategies and initiatives.
Lead continuous improvement efforts by developing, updating, and executing Medical Affairs policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Optimize resource utilization by maximizing efficiency of existing resources, ensuring consistency in operations, and maintaining compliance with organizational protocols and external requirements.
Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding and training programs for Medical Affairs personnel, including creating and delivering global training curriculum to ensure team competency and performance.
Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities by managing direct reports, providing mentorship to team members, leading a team of medical affairs associates, and planning for access to essential biomedical literature and review capabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years experience in Life Sciences industry.
5+ years related experience and management in Medical Affairs.
Proven experience as member leadership teams representing Medical Affairs with responsibility for creating medical strategies, developing medical teams, and implementing medical processes is required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Influencing skills in a matrix organization, through a collaborative style with the establishment of credibility and strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrate strong business acumen and critical thinking skills. Requires strategic thinking and problem-solving.
Process-oriented and demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing deliverables through effective goal setting and a strong result orientation.
Excellent written, oral communication and computer software skills. Excellent presentation skills of medical and scientific data to small and large audiences.
Knowledgeable in the areas of regulatory, commercial, and clinical issues affecting the medical device industry.
Commitment to understand and advance MA objectives in a multidisciplinary environment with cross functional colleagues, deep commitment to teamwork and empowerment of associates and colleagues.
Preferred Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with strong presentation abilities for medical and scientific data to various audiences. Must demonstrate effective influencing skills in a matrix organization through collaboration and establishing credibility.
Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated strategic thinking skills to advance medical affairs objectives in a multidisciplinary environment.
Process-oriented with a sense of urgency in completing deliverables through effective goal setting and strong results orientation, coupled with deep commitment to teamwork and empowering associates.
Comprehensive understanding of regulatory, commercial, and clinical issues affecting the medical device industry, with ability to navigate cross-functional teams and advance Medical Affairs objectives.
Workplace Arrangement:
Residence within 50 miles of Sparks, MD is preferred (office-based)
Remote work will be considered, and time zone and ease of travel to Sparks for periodic meetings will be discussed
Travel:
Travel in USA, up to 15%.
