Job Description

Broad Scope & Purpose:

The Sr. Manager, Clinical Strategic Accounts is a mid-level management clinical role, operating at a strategic level with BD MMS’s top customers, reporting to the VP Clinical Services and supporting strategic accounts. Success in this role requires deep engagement and understanding of the Medication Management Process, its clinical impact and strategic challenges to help drive customer transformation through focused solutions. The Sr. Manager will act as an industry thought leader and will strive to build relationships and become a trusted advisor to key clinical decision-makers, helping them transform their medication use process.

In addition to direct responsibility for enterprise level clinical engagement, the Sr. Manager will lead a team of clinicians on the National core team who will have responsibility for pre- and post-sale facility level clinical engagement supporting the overall success of the Strategic team.

Proven ability to successfully create and implement customer IDN and facility strategy, as well as BD functional strategy and team execution support.

People management responsibilities include training and retaining a staff of clinicians to support the sales process and customer engagement at select accounts. The Director will ensure accountability for their team's execution of core responsibilities and key initiatives, focused on facility level support.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for direct engagement with strategic accounts, building deep partnerships with customers and account teams to drive multi-year clinical strategy. Leads a team of Clinical Solutions Consultants focused on facility-level clinical engagements while developing strong clinical sponsorship from C-suite and functional clinical leaders.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare industry, including hospital-based and care continuum medication management and supply chain processes. Maintains thorough understanding of nursing, pharmacy, and materials management workflows, and BD's medication management dispensing, infusion, and supply solutions. Stays engaged with healthcare organizations to remain current on industry trends.

  • Expertly performs complex customer current state assessments and creates compelling future state business cases (roadmaps) to meet customer strategic objectives. Ensures alignment between customer goals and solution implementation across the business while collaborating with cross-functional BD resources to drive standardization initiatives.

  • Demonstrates a proven track record of strong communication and cross-functional collaboration, possessing dynamic presentation abilities and excellent business writing skills. Acts as the clinical voice of the Customer to platform teams for product enhancement and development initiatives.

  • Displays strategic thinking with a global company mindset, focusing on results and continuous improvement. Handles multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing effectively. Exhibits exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills coupled with strong business acumen, embodying characteristics aligned with BD WAY values and leadership commitments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in an acute care hospital environment required

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to develop pre and post sales strategy

  • Up to 75% travel required, including nights and some weekends

  • Geographic proximity to National alignment required

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred Experiences:

  • Experience with quality improvement committees or patient safety initiatives, along with knowledge of medication automated dispensing cabinets and supply automation solutions to enhance patient care outcomes and operational efficiency.

  • Baccalaureate degree required with advanced degree preferred, complemented by broad infusion and dispensing product knowledge, particularly in procedural areas such as Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

  • Direct people management experience highly preferred; alternatively, at least 3+ years of indirect leadership experience (matrix leadership, training, PMO leadership) with demonstrated ability to lead cross-departmental collaborations in matrix environments.

  • Prior direct quota-carrying capital sales experience strongly preferred, along with hospital departmental management or leadership experience to effectively understand healthcare facility operations and needs.

  • National/Strategic Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) experience strongly preferred, demonstrating ability to navigate complex healthcare systems and build relationships across multiple stakeholders and departments.

Nurse applicants- 

  • Required
    • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse
    • Experience with infusion systems utilizing safety software/dose error reduction software
    • Experience leveraging dispensing solutions and collaborating with pharmacy leadership
  • Preferred Experiences
    • Quality improvement committee or patient safety initiatives
    • Medication automated dispensing cabinets utilization
    • Supply automation solutions
    • Procedural areas

Pharmacist applicants- 

  • Required
    • Current licensure as a Registered Pharmacist
    • Experience with pharmacy operations automation and medication automated dispensing cabinets
    • Experience collaborating on cross functional teams including Nursing and IT leaders
  • Preferred Experiences
    • Managing IV compounding room
    • Ensuring regulatory compliance
    • Overseeing patient safety systems
    • Managing financial and formulary challenges
