Job Description
Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Product Development at BD will lead and manage a team of engineers and product developers responsible for the full lifecycle of complex Pharmacy Automation products, from concept to commercialization. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in innovation, project management, and cross-functional collaboration within the healthcare industry.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of multi-disciplinary product development engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple product development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Drive the definition of product requirements, specifications, and design inputs based on market research, customer feedback, and regulatory considerations.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Medical Affairs to ensure successful product launches.
Manage and optimize the product development process, including design control, risk management, and verification/validation activities, in compliance with applicable medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
Evaluate new technologies and assess their applicability to BD's Pharmacy Automation product portfolio, contributing to long-term product roadmapping.
Develop and manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics.
Champion best practices in design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability.
Present project updates, technical reports, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development within the medical device industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
Strong understanding of medical device regulations preferred (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, MDR).
Proven experience managing the full product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
Excellent project management skills, including experience with project planning software and methodologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Experience with design control processes, risk management, and intellectual property.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 15%).
Experience in automation or robotics is preferred
