By aligning and streamlining our work, our Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) business unit aims to drive growth and innovation in everything from integrated sample management to diagnostic solutions. The Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) unit is currently seeking:

The Sr. Manufacturing Unit Process Engineer is responsible for develop and improve manufacturing processes and engineering activities to support day to day operations, new product development and/or existing product enhancement. Analyze situations, to improve manufacturing capacity, cost reduction and continuous improvement.

Job Description

Functions and Responsibilities

1.    Develops systems to identify and measure key performance indicators (uptime, downtime, scrap, yield).
2.    Evaluates and identifies key site capacity constraints and provides timely solutions to resolve.
3.    Uses Lean tools to measure, understand, and improve process variability and efficiency.
4.    Manages related capital projects adhering to budget and schedule constraints.
5.    Identifies critical equipment setting and creation of work standards.
6.    Creates technical knowledge for the manufacturing unit and transfers the knowledge to the operator and technical associates.
7.    Coaches associates on continuous improvement methodologies within the manufacturing unit.
8.    Understands top losses within the manufacturing unit and develops and implements plans to eliminate losses and drive OEE performance.
9.    Responsible for manufacturing unit change control including validation activities, root cause analysis of prioritized OEE losses, and quality deviations.
10.    Prepare work instruction / training material for process.
11.    Lead and execute process validation and compile completion result; develop standards for material or process changes.
12.    Lead in problem solving using continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
13.    Implements and sustains BD Excellence work process for the manufacturing unit.
14.    Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.  
15.    Perform other tasks as required.

Requirements

1.    Bachelor’s Engineering Degree in Industrial, Mechatronic, Electronic, Electrical, or related field.
2.    3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge and Skills 

1.    Troubleshooting / Problem Solving – Advanced  
2.    PLC experience preferred.
3.    Organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and high–level goals.
4.    Strong leadership skills to be able to manage time, and a problem solver.
5.    Ability to influence and build good working relationships according to BD Values.
6.    Effective Oral/written Communication skills.
7.    Proficiency in MS Office
8.    Bilingual English and Spanish.
