Production Shift Supervisor

Summary

Coach associates to be accountable for safety, quality, production, cost, housekeeping and overall policy adherence. Ensure that safety and quality standards are achieved while driving production performance to meet goals and schedules. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address safety issues and incidents promptly.

  • Spend at least 75% of your time on the production floor leading and supporting associates.

  • Develop staffing and training plans to build a skilled, motivated team.

  • Provide timely, specific feedback to drive associate performance.

  • Foster a learning environment that encourages growth and higher standards.

  • Implement BD Excellence programs and lean manufacturing practices.

  • Maintain open, two-way communication between associates and management.

  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies; resolve employee relations issues with HR support when needed.

  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Production Planning to set and monitor production schedules.

  • Track and communicate production metrics to ensure departmental goals are met.

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure product quality meets established standards.

  • Achieve or exceed safety, quality, production, and cost objectives.

  • Develop and mentor team members to build a strong, high-performing unit.

  • Take on additional duties as needed to support business goals.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in people leadership and manufacturing.

  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to build teams and work collaboratively.

  • Self-motivated with sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Basic knowledge of safety and ergonomics.

  • Proficient in quality systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Basic financial understanding.

Work Environment:

  • BD is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals.  Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. 

  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
