Lauren Sherry says she is “just not a cube person.” What she really means is she enjoys being on the road, traveling to myriad care settings and interacting with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as a salesperson for BD Urology and Critical Care (UCC).
“I love traveling and interacting with various healthcare professionals and helping them see what makes our UCC solutions so beneficial for their patients,” said Lauren. “My entire career has been in sales. My passion is helping our customers understand the level of innovation and rigor we put into designing and manufacturing our devices. It’s awesome to see nurses get excited when they interact with our products for the first time, like the PureWickTM Male External Catheter and PureWickTM Female External Catheter, as examples.”
Continuing to Build a Unique Career Path
Lauren will celebrate three-years with BD in November 2023. Prior to joining the company, she worked for ComDoc (a Xerox business solutions company) and sold printers. And before that, Lauren was busy earning her bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University where she was also part of the women’s lacrosse team.
“My time at ComDoc really helped set me up for success in medical sales. And playing lacrosse at the collegiate level taught me so much about commitment, discipline, and leadership, which has also been useful in my current role,” explained Lauren.
Supportive Culture
As Lauren thinks about her time at BD and what attributes have supported her growth and success at the organization, she points to networking, being part of the company’s African Americans at BD Associate Resource Group (AABD ARG), and the numerous learning opportunities available.
“I’ve had a great experience at BD so far. The level of networking offered, the chance to co-lead in the ARG, and working across so many different groups – I know I’ve learned so much from everyone I’ve connected and worked with so far, which has been truly valuable. There are so many chances to connect with others at BD, it’s incredible,” she said.
When she is not selling UCC solutions to customers, Lauren can be found spending time outside with her husband or taking in a concert. She also can be found traveling to Florida where her family still lives and where she grew up.
“Frank Ocean is on my wish list for concerts for sure. And since moving to Colorado, I really enjoy spending time outdoors any chance I get,” concluded Lauren.
