Mai Nguyen enjoys manufacturing medical devices. She began her career with BD and its Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) site in San Jose, CA in 2020.

“I love working for BD and the role I play in working on flow cytometry. It can be stressful at times to meet the monthly production goals of the BD FACSLyric^TM, BD FACS^TM Loader, and BD FACSPresto^TM that we make, but by checking and taking inventory of all the parts we need almost daily, I can see if I need to notify the planner so we don’t have any interruption in production. It’s satisfying to me when production and delivery to the customer go smoothly,” said Mai.

According to Mai, teamwork, hard work, and collaboration are what make the workplace enjoyable, especially when you know everyone is working toward the same goal – satisfying the customer.

“When I come into work, I am energized, focused, and motivated to do better because BD is such a wonderful place. I feel supported, trusted, and empowered to do my job. And I know that my leaders will help me if I need it. They are also really good about recognizing you for a job well done,” said Mai. “I truly believe that medical devices and solutions are changing the world. This is because of the impact they have on patients – as the devices and solutions become more sophisticated.”

She noted that anyone looking to make a career move should consider BD. “There’s a very healthy and helpful work environment here. Management listens to us, opens its doors, and demonstrates its care through its actions. You can build an incredible amount of skills here and there are so many opportunities and possibilities to grow your career,” concluded Mai.
