PURPOSE OF JOB
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is accountable for driving sustainable revenue growth and market expansion for the Biosciences portfolio in the Philippines. The role focuses on identifying, shaping, and converting strategic growth opportunities across clinical laboratories, academic research, government institutions, contract research organizations, and regulated life sciences segments.
This position owns the end‑to‑end business development agenda—from market sensing and opportunity creation, through partner and channel enablement, to commercial execution—ensuring alignment with Biosciences’ SEA strategy, compliance standards, and long‑term value creation.
The role is growth‑oriented, with a strong emphasis on expanding category penetration, accelerating adoption of advanced biosciences solutions, and building durable partnerships that strengthen Biosciences’ leadership in the Philippine life sciences ecosystem.
- Competency Building (Internal & Distributor): Lead capability development for internal teams and distributors, ensuring strong product knowledge, application understanding, and value‑based selling skills.
- Technical Sales & FAS Oversight: Provide direction, prioritization, and supervision of distributor Technical Sales, Field Application Scientists (FAS), and related support resources to ensure effective deployment against growth priorities.
- Technical Trainings: provide training to distributors and end-users as necessary
- Regulatory Coordination: Work cross‑functionally to support regulatory readiness and compliance relevant to the Biosciences portfolio, ensuring market access and continuity.
- SIOP & Demand Consensus Management: Lead Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) and demand consensus processes with distributors to align forecasts, supply, and commercial priorities.
- Account Development: Personally drive the development of strategic and high‑potential accounts, including national reference sites, key institutions, and priority programs.
- Scientific Engagement & Grand Rounds: Initiate and support scientific engagement activities such as Grand Rounds, application workshops, and knowledge‑based forums to build credibility, influence adoption, and stimulate demand.
Market & Opportunity Development
- Lead comprehensive market sensing to understand customer needs, funding flows, research priorities, and competitive dynamics across the Philippine biosciences landscape.
- Identify and qualify high‑impact business opportunities, including new applications, institutional accounts, and emerging research programs.
- Develop country‑specific business development plans aligned with SEA strategy and Biosciences priorities.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build and sustain senior‑level relationships with key stakeholders, including:
- Academic and research institutions
- Government agencies and regulatory bodies
- Principal investigators, lab heads, and key opinion leaders
- Strategic partners and distributors
- Position Biosciences as trusted, long‑term collaborators rather than transactional suppliers.
Channel & Partner Enablement
- Select, develop, and manage distributors and business partners to ensure strong technical competency, market coverage, and ethical compliance.
- Drive partner performance through clear objectives, opportunity pipelines, and regular business reviews.
- Resolve commercial and operational issues in collaboration with internal functions.
Commercial Execution & Growth Delivery
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Clinical / Application teams to convert identified opportunities into revenue.
- Support complex deals, key account pursuits, and strategic projects that require cross‑functional coordination.
- Track business performance, identify risks and gaps, and implement corrective actions to ensure delivery of growth targets.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Immunology, or related fields
- Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage but not mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum 3–8 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or market development within life sciences, diagnostics, analytical instruments, or related industries.
- Proven track record of driving growth through market expansion, partnerships, or complex solution selling.
- Experience working with distributors and indirect sales models is strongly preferred.
Technical & Commercial Competencies
- Strong understanding of the flow cytometry, and single cell multiomics market and workflow in both clinical and research settings
- Ability to identify decision‑makers, funding mechanisms, and purchasing processes within academic and institutional environments.
- Strategic thinking combined with hands‑on commercial execution capability.
- Strong analytical, planning, and financial acumen.
