Reports directly to the EHS Manager. Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental management control programs. Ensures site compliance with all federal, state, local, and company policies. Coordinates, develops, evaluates, and conducts periodic audits and assessments to verify regulatory compliance.
Job Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate the daily execution of site safety and industrial hygiene policies and procedures.
Participate in Tier 1 meetings.
Conduct periodic safety audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with regulations and facility safety policies and procedures.
Document Environmental and Safety Observations (ESOs) using the designated software.
Manage the Safety Shoe Program and Hi-Visibility clothing distribution for associates.
Prepare plant communications, including weekly safety topics.
Perform evaluations and assist with implementing process improvements related to ergonomics, machine guarding, and other safety concerns.
Ensure contractor compliance with applicable safety and environmental policies.
Participate in incident investigation meetings; evaluate risks and incidents and identify opportunities to reduce costs and enhance risk mitigation.
Conduct weekly and monthly inspections of the Fire Protection System (e.g., extinguishers, emergency lights, emergency exits) and Life Safety Equipment (e.g., eyewash stations).
Conduct monthly and quarterly inspections at Covington and Madison locations to ensure compliance with the SPCC Plan and Stormwater Permit.
Collect hazardous and non-hazardous waste from satellite accumulation areas; maintain accurate container inventory and conduct weekly inspections of the hazardous waste storage room. Coordinate hazardous waste shipments.
Manage the Forklift Training Program.
Foster positive working relationships with associates and supervisors to encourage open communication regarding EHS concerns.
Perform other duties as required to support business needs.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Ideally 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing plant.
Knowledge and Skills:
Forklift Operator License (Preferred)
OSHA Training
Basic knowledge of chemistry
Highly responsible and reliable
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Physical Demands:
Employee may be required to sit, bend or stoop. May occasionally lift objects of up to 40 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
