Position Summary:

The product engineer (AME) supports and executes both targeted and broad engineering assignments that deliver innovative, functional, and cost-effective solutions for product development and commercialization. This role ensures products are designed for manufacturability and that scalable, robust processes are in place for production. Additionally, the engineer supports existing BD products and product families through lifecycle management, adherence to quality systems, design controls, and sound engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive product lifecycle management with emphasis on new country launches and variations by resolving technical issues, implementing design enhancements, and managing product updates, and process changes.

  • Ensure compliance with BD’s Quality System through rigorous verification of engineering work products.

  • Apply engineering principles (dFMEA, pFMEA, DFM, material science, process reliability) to meet product design and manufacturing requirements.

  • Collaborate with Regulatory both International and Domestic, Marketing, Quality, R&D, and Manufacturing to identify and implement product and process improvements.

  • Conduct detailed design and process analysis; review and approve component and equipment specifications.

  • Evaluate new manufacturing processes and technologies for integration into existing operations.

  • Support and coordinate commercialization of new products and processes with manufacturing sites.

  • Support and manage project plans, contingency strategies, and resource estimates.

  • Provide technical support in sustaining and product development, cost savings, and design transfer initiatives.

Minimum requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Material Science, or Biomechanical required).  

Experience:

Minimum 1-3 years in product and process manufacturing engineering within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficient in document control, Knowledge of NGCC PEGA.

  • Experience with ERP systems (ex. SAP, TeamCenter).

  • Knowledge of Engineering principles in solving moderately complex problems

  • Knowledge of product design and development.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, technical documentation, and process validation.

  • Knowledge of QMS, FDA and ISO standards, GMPs, and regulatory compliance.

  • Process Excellence certification (Six Sigma, Lean Green/Black Belt) highly desired

    • Process Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Regulatory, Documentation Control, Production Management.

  • External:

    • Suppliers, Consultants, and Contractors.
