The Bilingual Clinical Specialist, Medical Affairs plays a key role in delivering medical, scientific, and technical support across Quebec, Ontario, and the Atlantic provinces. This role focuses on building strong relationships with end users, identify potential KOL’s, support evaluations, conversions, product in-servicing, clinical education programs, associate onboarding and expand brand recognition.

Primary focus in on the efficient, effective, and successful implementation of MDS BD products with exemplary continuous follow up. Delivery of clinical programs for our internal and external customers to ensure knowledge and comfort with product applications and optimize use of BD systems.

This field position must be based either in Ottawa, Ontario or Montreal, Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Priorities of this position is to actively engage in Discovery, Validations, and Implementations with ongoing clinical support of BD’s Medication Delivery Solutions portfolio with a primary focus on Vascular Access Management and Hazardous Drug Safety products.
  • Based on experience additional responsibilities may include PICC’s, Midlines, Ultrasound, Sherlock and 3CG technology.
  • Provides medical and scientific support to current and future commercialized solutions and devices and provides support for issue management on current devices and solutions.
  • Provides scope of practice for customers
  • Participate in off-label discussions, PIR’s
  • Working with platform partners and global medical affairs partners, participates as needed as part of the crisis-management teams for marketed products or solutions in the case of corrective field actions.
  • Support Territory Managers in organizing and conducting both on site and virtual clinical training and education programs to nurses, radiology technicians and physicians, including presentation of information and clinical simulation training.
  • Collaborate with Team Lead to develop the collection of data to support team business case and clinical effectiveness of products.
  • Participates in reviews with marketing to ensure programs offered are current and up to date from an evidentiary and regulatory guidelines perspective.
  • Provide routine follow-up support to customers, develop, and maintain a national data base of reference users/advocates.
  • Develop strong, working relationships with end-users while providing product in-servicing and clinical education.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials following medical, legal and regulatory policies.
  • Works collaboratively with other MDS Clinical – Medical associates to provide support to the following entities:
    • Key Opinion Leader identification and development
    • Webinar development
    • Solution offerings (Vascular access management, Safe Handling Assessment)
  • Keep up to date with current vascular access and hazardous drug safety trends pertaining to clinical practices, products, techniques, and evolving technologies.
  • Actively involved in Professional Organizations (i.e.: College of Nurses, Canadian Vascular Access Association, Canadian Society of Vascular Nursing etc.) that are recognized as being complimentary to BD.
  • Support trade shows, educational events and National sales meetings as requested.
  • Above responsibilities evolve and are not all-inclusive; other activities may be assigned.

  • Sound understanding of medical and surgical terminology.
  • Demonstrates strong ability to effectively engage clinical and management leaders. Excels in delivering compelling presentations and translating clinical data for audiences of varying sizes.

Education & Experience - required:

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Radiology Technologist (MRT) in hospital settings (ICU, Oncology, Interventional Radiology, or Emergency Department).
  • At least 2 years of experience with peripheral IV insertion.
  • Must be a Canadian Registered Nurse (RN) with current certification and a certified Canadian Registered Medical Radiology Technologist (MRT).
  • Bilingual in French and English (read, write, speak) required. This role will need to interact with customers and internal stakeholders in both languages.
  • Familiarity with clinical practice guidelines for vascular access management.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a past clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years, as well as meet BD's auto safety standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory (Quebec, Ontario, Atlantic).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CVAA/INS or AVA certification preferred.
  • PICC insertion experience is an asset.
  • Clinicians familiar with PICC insertion and USG PIV insertions including BD PICC/3CG technology or safe handling devices for hazardous drug safety.
  • Experience with project implementation is an asset.

Le/la Spécialiste Clinique Bilingue, Affaires Médicales, joue un rôle clé en fournissant un soutien médical, scientifique et technique à travers le Québec, l’Ontario et les provinces de l’Atlantique. Ce poste vise à établir des relations solides avec les utilisateurs finaux, identifier les leaders d’opinion clés (KOL), soutenir les évaluations, les conversions, les formations sur les produits, les programmes d’éducation clinique, l’intégration des nouveaux employés et accroître la reconnaissance de la marque.

L’objectif principal est d’assurer une mise en œuvre efficace, efficiente et réussie des produits MDS BD, avec un suivi exemplaire. Il/elle est responsable de la livraison de programmes cliniques pour les clients internes et externes afin d’assurer la maîtrise des applications produits et d’optimiser l’utilisation des systèmes BD.

Responsabilités

  • Participer activement aux phases de découverte, validation et mise en œuvre des solutions BD en soutien clinique continu, en mettant l’accent sur la gestion de l’accès vasculaire et la sécurité des médicaments dangereux.

  • Développer des relations solides avec les utilisateurs finaux via des formations et de l’éducation clinique.
  • Contribuer à l’élaboration de matériel de formation conforme aux politiques médicales, juridiques et réglementaires.
  • Collaborer avec les autres membres de l’équipe clinique MDS pour :
    • Identifier et développer les leaders d’opinion clés
    • Développer des webinaires
    • Offrir des solutions (gestion de l’accès vasculaire, évaluation de la manipulation sécuritaire)
  • Se tenir à jour sur les tendances en accès vasculaire et sécurité des médicaments dangereux.
  • Participer activement à des organisations professionnelles (ex. : OIIQ, Association canadienne d’accès vasculaire, Société canadienne des soins vasculaires).
  • Soutenir les salons professionnels, événements éducatifs et réunions nationales de vente.
  • Les responsabilités peuvent évoluer et ne sont pas exhaustives.

Compétences et aptitudes

  • Excellentes compétences interpersonnelles, en communication et en relations.
  • Solides capacités d’organisation et de gestion du temps.
  • Maîtrise de Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Formation et expérience requises

  • Minimum de 2 ans d’expérience clinique comme infirmier(ère) autorisé(e) (IA) ou technologue en radiologie médicale (TRM) en milieu hospitalier (USI, oncologie, radiologie interventionnelle ou urgence).
  • Minimum de 2 ans d’expérience en insertion de cathéters périphériques.
  • Être infirmier(ère) autorisé(e) au Canada avec certification en vigueur ou technologue en radiologie médicale certifié(e).
  • Bilinguisme français/anglais (lecture, écriture, expression orale) requis. Ce poste nécessite des interactions avec les clients et les parties prenantes internes dans les deux langues officielles.
  • Connaissance des lignes directrices cliniques en gestion de l’accès vasculaire.
  • Permis de conduire valide et dossier de conduite sans infraction depuis au moins 3 ans, conforme aux normes de sécurité de BD.
  • Disponibilité à voyager jusqu’à 50 % dans le territoire assigné (Québec, Ontario, Atlantique).

Qualifications souhaitées

  • Certification CVAA/INS ou AVA souhaitée.
  • Expérience en insertion de PICC est un atout.
  • Connaissance des technologies BD PICC/3CG ou dispositifs de manipulation sécuritaire des médicaments dangereux.
  • Expérience en mise en œuvre de projets est un atout.
