Job Description Summary

Plan, design, and coordinate the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and related engineering activities in any of the plants to support new product development projects and manufacturing scale-up, as well as existing production. Lead Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) efforts to improve manufacturability for new product development and technology teams. Reports to the Assembly Process Development Manager and is part of the GIE (Global Integrated Engineering) network.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and coordinate the development and implementation of manufacturing processes/related engineering activities. 
  • Use Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) expertise to identify potential failures before they happen, protecting our investments and ensuring predictable launches
  • Work directly with product development teams to ensure new innovations can be manufactured efficiently and effectively
  • Assist in training of DFMA methodology to BD associates. 
  • Accountable for manufacturing processes from initial concept through successful market launch, with full accountability for meeting business objectives
  • Apply six-sigma and lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes for maximum efficiency and quality
  • Develop precise machine requirements and acceptance protocols that ensure we acquire exactly what we need
  • Collaborate with R&D, Molding, Quality, Manufacturing teams and external vendors to create seamless workflows
  • Support manufacturing facilities in identifying opportunities for standardization and process improvements that boost the bottom line
  • Evaluate new technologies and industry trends with the potential to transform our global business
  • Take ownership of key initiatives that drive our manufacturing excellence forward
  • Maintain unwavering commitment to BD's safety regulations and quality assurance principles

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science or related field and 5 years experience in a related field OR
  • Master's Degree and 3 years experience in a related field
