As a Key Account Manager in Pharmaceutical Sales at BD and a Team Leader, Yuko Moriyama was first attracted to BD by the sheer amount of career possibilities, as well as a recommendation from a recruitment agent.

“The more I learned about BD the more I was attracted to working for the company. I felt that I could have a chance to participate in large scale customer projects due to the company’s size. Also, the opportunity to work at a global scale was interesting to me,” explained Yuko.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in Foreign Studies with a concentration in Italian Language and Culture Studies, she worked for a Japanese steel company for approximately eight years selling stainless steel pipes. As a result, joining BD and a completely different industry has been eye opening and a great experience so far.

“BD has a great Purpose of advancing the world of healthTM and it’s so wonderful to work with like-minded people. Everyone who works for BD is so kind and supportive, which has the made the transition into the med tech space even better for me,” said Yuko.  

While there really is no average day for her, most days consist of meeting with customers, assuring alignment of sales strategies and goals internally across the team and supporting and coaching her team. One of the biggest elements Yuko enjoys is seeing a sales plan come to fruition with a customer.

“It always feels so great when a project progresses according to the strategy we established and as a result, we win business from the customer….to me this is very rewarding,” said Yuko.

When asked to describe BD in one word, Yuko said: Mature. “There are so many good career opportunities at BD. And the environment enables you to take on the challenge of a stretch assignment – perhaps even one that is global in nature. So if working in Med Tech across many teams and with such a large footprint is your goal, then this company is a place you should consider working,” she said.

When Yuko is not connecting with customers and coaching and supporting her team, she loves playing tennis and traveling.
