Colin Lynch
We are the connectors of possible: Orchestrator of Operations
In his personal time, you might find Colin Lynch reading, at the gym or, depending on the season, golfing, or snowboarding. He considers himself athletic.
But during his workdays at BD, Colin considers himself something very different – an orchestrator.
“As a Project Manager working across a wide variety of enterprise assignments as part of the National Customer and Commercial Operations Group, I’m so lucky to help orchestrate the tasks and deliverables. I love being at the center of a project and really helping to make connections, defining goals of the project, ensuring that projects come to a successful completion and exceeding stakeholder expectations.”
Finance background and experience in distribution membership
Colin has been with BD since April 2022 when he first joined the company as a part of the Distribution and Central Membership Team under Jennifer Welsch. Within this role, he worked on customer membership accuracy, ensuring that customers were correctly aligned to their Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) membership to help ensure transaction accuracy. He moved over to his current role October 2023.
“I think there is so much opportunity at BD – vertical, horizontal movement – my former leader was very supportive of me applying for and accepting a new role within BD. I think I’m a great example of Internal Mobility at the company,” said Colin. Colin, who earned his bachelor’s degree in finance, first fell in love with Project Management during his MBA program. “My finance degree does come in handy, depending on the project, but my MBA has been even more helpful in my role.”
BD = Impact and Growth Mindset
In addition to working on unique projects and getting exposure to different parts of the BD organization, no two days are alike and that is something Colin greets with an obvious eagerness.
“I love when something comes up that challenges me and the team. There is support all around. It forces me to look at the issue differently and allows me to learn and grow from it, which I think builds character and sets me up for success down the road – nothing you learn is ever wasted because you can always reflect on it should another similar challenge come up,” said Colin. “And I love how much exposure I get in my role in learning how we make a difference in patients’ lives – what we do is so impactful.”
