Job Description

Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Role Summary

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, reliability, safety, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) for high-speed automated production equipment. This role performs troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, loss investigation, and continuous improvement activities while partnering with operators, technicians, and maintenance leaders to reduce downtime and improve line performance.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform planned, preventative, corrective, and unplanned maintenance on high-speed automated manufacturing, assembly, and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and restore equipment performance.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and support the escalation process in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and optimize critical equipment settings, standards, and performance parameters.
  • Identify and report abnormalities observed during maintenance activities to prevent recurring issues.

Loss Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate and resolve equipment-related losses, including breakdowns, waste, and speed losses, using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Support repeat-loss investigations and ensure countermeasures are effective and sustainable.
  • Participate in Tier 1, Production Analysis Board (PAB), and other production meetings to communicate line status, performance issues, and recovery plans.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, validations, and reliability projects to improve equipment performance, efficiency, and OEE.

Maintenance Standards & Process Ownership

  • Develop, follow, and improve maintenance standards, procedures, frequencies, and execution methods.
  • Support effective use of Daily Task Maintenance (DTM), Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and opportunistic maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Reliability and Preventative Maintenance leaders to plan maintenance activities and improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance standards based on troubleshooting outcomes, breakdown history, and equipment performance data.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, equipment changes, and spare parts usage in SAP, CMMS, or designated maintenance systems.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Support compliance with applicable quality systems and manufacturing procedures.

Training & Team Collaboration

  • Partner with operators, technicians, and production teams to support line performance and reduce equipment losses.
  • Train, coach, and mentor operators and technicians on maintenance standards, troubleshooting practices, DTM/PPM activities, and problem-solving tools.
  • Promote strong teamwork, communication, and consistent execution of maintenance and continuous improvement practices.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support business and production requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s Degree required in Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing high-speed automated manufacturing, assembly, or packaging equipment required.
  • Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance required.
  • Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience required.
  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience, including fault finding and I/O, preferred.
  • Experience using SAP, CMMS, or other maintenance management systems preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; electrical troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and reliability practices.
  • Understanding of quality systems, safety standards, and regulated manufacturing requirements preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to production needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operators, technicians, maintenance teams, and production leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance documentation systems.
  • Basic knowledge of continuous improvement tools, machine design, safety, and ergonomics preferred.

Work Schedule

  • Shift:1st M-F 8-5
  • Overtime: Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed
