Job Description
Molding Project Engineer
Reports to the Manufacturing Unit Leader. Responsible for project ownership and support activities toward attainment of departmental and plant goals. Primary focus is on areas of molding project leadership, and project execution training and development. Secondary focus on mold/press processing/operations support. Required to handle multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
oProject Leadership and Support:
Ability to handle projects of a moderate to large scope requiring extensive coordination. May be required to handle several assignments (project & process duties) simultaneously.
Responsible for coordinating activities between equipment vendors and plant functional departments on his/her assignments.
As required within the scope of his/her duty, be responsible for all associated documentation, including the following: validations, molding procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, plant control process, spare parts listings, etc.
Responsible for realization of budgeted cost reductions and productivity improvements.
Supports molding capital improvement projects and execution activities.
Provides recommendation for capital equipment or process modifications, and supports their physical installation, debugging and associated training of production personnel.
Recommends vendors for commercial items and materials needed for a project.
Accountable for spending (capital or expense) within approved limits on programs.
oMold Engineering
Supports the Molding Manufacturing Unit’s primary objectives, with proven ability to identify problems and execute corrective action plans to resolve gaps to achieving goals. Specific focus will be in areas of process effectiveness and equipment efficiencies.
Required to have awareness of product performance and quality requirements within scope of his/her assignments.
Has knowledge of established safety standards and operator interface with equipment.
oLeadership
Directs the efforts of project team such as operators, technicians, and engineers in the execution of change control including removal and installation of new or existing equipment as required.
Provides functional supervision of other Engineers within the scope of his/her project assignments.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Molding or Mechanical Engineering required.
BD Validation Toolkit training and Project / Program experience, or comparable industry validation certification is required.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of proper engineering practices and vendor relationships.
Accredited program certification(s) in injection molding processing/technology (Master Molder, Paulson Injection Molding Training, etc.)
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing initiatives with an emphasis in Operation Excellence
