Job Description Summary

With minimal supervision, for both PS and NAMc 24/7 production facilities, this position performs construction safety and plant security oversite. This role requires in-depth knowledge of facility manufacturing operations, corporate policies and procedures as well as a working and in-depth knowledge of OSHA construction compliance. This role partners with both contractors and plant leadership to successfully implement construction safety goals and initiatives to reduce injuries and create a positive safety culture. Ensures compliance with corporate security policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

1st shift – Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.

2. Conducts toolbox meetings

3. Reviews and accepts all subcontractors safety plans

4. Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed and submitted to related government agencies

5. Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.

6. Promotes safe practices at the job site.

7. Enforces safety guidelines.

8. Trains and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.

9. Conducts investigations of all accidents and near-misses (per construction RACI).

10. Reports site activity recap weekly to the GRC PM & Safety Manager.

11. Reviews and participates in job hazard analyses.

12. Establishes safety standards and policies as needed.

13. Watches out for the safety of all workers and works to protect them from entering hazardous situations.

14. Responds to reported construction safety concerns.

15. Serves as the link between BD and contractors.

16. Arranges for OSHA mandated testing and/or evaluations of the workplace by external agencies/consultants.

17. Attends scheduled project meetings.

18. Oversees facility door access and camera systems

19. Other duties as assigned

  • Ensure construction safety OSHA regulations/BD CON 08.1 are followed.

  • Meet or exceed operational objectives (i.e. Safety, quality, production, cost, etc.)

  • Ensure security systems are aligned with corporate requirements

  • Manage building access controls, badges, registers

Supervision:

This position does not supervise any associates at any level

Minimum Education :

  • Required : Associates degree – Construction related field or equivalent

Minimum Experience:

  • Relevant construction experience , preferable a minimum of 1-2 years in a construction safety role

  • OSHA 30 hour for Construction (CFR 1926)  and OSHA 510 certificate or higher credential.
