Job Description

This position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of documents required for exporting Bard shipments. 

This position works with customs brokers, freight forwarders, distribution personnel, materials, supply chain management, customer service personnel, and global freight personnel to ship and track Bard export shipments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare commercial invoices and shipper’s letter of instructions for all export shipments (to include IFE processes).

  • Arrange for pick-ups with assigned freight forwarders.

  • Coordinate with customs, brokers, and FDA for the traceability of import and export shipments. 

  • Provide freight quotes for customers (parcel and non-parcel shipments).

  • Process FedEx, DHL, UPS, and Express Mail shipments and if appropriate, requests FedEx SEDs.

  • Provide detailed monthly report of activity with International carriers and customers. 

  • Provide and update reports as the need arises.

  • Data entry activities.

  • Interact via phone and email with Customer Service, Distribution, Supply Chain, Global Freight, and other company personnel as needed.

  • JDE system.

  • MFG-Pro system.

  • Operate within the High Jump WMS system.

  • Print, Pick, and Bill MFG-Pro orders. 

  • Pick and pack High Jump orders.

  • Batch and wave work to the floor for processing using wave planning software.

  • Run order picking process within High Jump.

  • Correct and resubmit failed orders in JDE.

  • Enter new items into JDE and set up pick locations in High Jump.

  • Cross training in other clerical and operational duties in International department will be required.

  • Must enforce all established policies, work instructions, and SOPs.

  • Responsible for following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in SOP.

  • Must be safety minded and work diligently to maintain safe working conditions by adhering to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injuries and illnesses.

  • Working a flexible schedule and daily overtime as required.

  • Regular and reliable attendance at work.

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience (Required):

  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer with intermediate level of keyboarding skills. 

  • Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot routine to complex problems.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize daily assignments.

  • Self-starter with initiative to complete daily assignments with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to perform/operate in a metrics-driven environment.

  • Must be a team player willing to move functions and assist in other GDC operations as required.

  • Knowledge of the GDC QMS.

  • Forklift experience preferred, not required.

  • High school graduate, GED or 1 year relevant equivalent experience required.

  • 2-3 years of previous International Transportation or Distribution experience preferred.

  • Experience with High Jump and JDE

Language Skills/​Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability:

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills. 

  • Must be able to communicate well between multiple departments and organizational levels across BD.

  • Must be able to communicate well across regions and effectively manage the language barrier.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal.

  • Ability to solve routine to complex problems. 

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in both written and oral form. 

  • Ability to adapt to and manage shifting priorities.

  • Must use a high sense of judgment to make appropriate recommendations and decisions.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to episodes of walking, standing, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, and using hands to pick, inch, type, grasp, and twist. 

  • There may be repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • The employee may occasionally be required to stoop, climb, kneel, balance, twist, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. 

  • The employee may be occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • The job is located on the warehouse floor and is regularly subject to extreme weather conditions. It is hot in the summer (no AC) and cold in the winter (very limited heating).

  • The job is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles. 

  • The usual tasks do not involve exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissues but job may require performing tasks that could potentially involve exposure to blood, fluids or tissue.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
