JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP/GM Commercial Pharmacy Automation, the VP, Global Marketing- Pharmacy Automation will be responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the global strategic vision for the downstream marketing organization within Pharmacy Automation. This executive role is pivotal in driving the convergence of digital and physical technologies, accelerating our transformation into a software-enabled, AI-driven healthcare solutions provider.

As a key member of the Pharmacy Automation team, you will be responsible for shaping the global downstream market strategy, defining customer-centric value propositions, and leading high-impact go-to-market execution and sales enablement across regions.  

This role demands a bold thinker and collaborative leader with a proven track record of driving growth through digital innovation, commercial excellence, and cross-functional alignment. You will have direct visibility with executive leadership and be accountable for delivering measurable business outcomes.

Scope: The Pharmacy Automation business is a cornerstone of BD’s growth strategy, representing a global team of approximately 1,600 associates and generating over $600M in annual revenue. As a senior executive within this dynamic organization, the Vice President of Global Marketing will lead the strategic marketing function across all regions, driving innovation, commercial acceleration, and digital transformation.

This role will be responsible for shaping the global marketing vision, building scalable go-to-market strategies, and aligning product positioning and messaging with evolving customer needs and market dynamics. The VP Global Marketing will oversee the development of integrated marketing plans that, ensure that Pharmacy Automation offerings are positioned for sustained growth and competitive differentiation.

Key KPIs: The VP, Global Marketing will be measured by revenue growth across the Pharmacy Automation portfolio, increased market share in strategic segments, and accelerated adoption of RX Auto solutions globally. Key indicators include successful product launches, improved marketing ROI, and enhanced customer engagement reflected in NPS and satisfaction scores. Progress toward business transformation goals—, along with leadership effectiveness through team engagement and cross-functional alignment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Define Global Market Strategy

  • Develop and communicate a clear strategic customer facing vision for Pharmacy Automation.
  • Align marketing priorities with global healthcare trends, regulatory shifts, and customer needs.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities across regions and customer segments.
  • Ensure strategic alignment with Pharmacy Automation objectives and long-term innovation roadmap.
  • Develop and execute innovative marketing campaigns and content strategies that drive brand awareness, engagement, and growth
  • Lead strategic segmentation and account targeting initiatives, utilizing customer analytics and market research to identify high-value customer segments, driving personalized marketing strategies that optimize engagement and conversion

Drive Portfolio Positioning and Differentiation

  • Craft compelling value propositions that highlight clinical, operational, and financial benefits.
  • Establish consistent messaging frameworks across global markets and product lines.
  • Collaborate with product and commercial teams to ensure differentiation in competitive landscapes.
  • Guide brand architecture and naming strategies to support clarity and scalability.

Lead Go-to-Market Execution

  • Drive launch excellence for new products, platforms and services
  • Develop scalable go-to-market models that support both global consistency and regional flexibility.
  • Partner with Sales and Commercial Operations teams to deliver impactful sales enablement tools.
  • Supervise business performance and adjust strategies to optimize adoption and revenue impact.

Embed Market Intelligence

  • Build a robust market insights function to capture voice-of-customer, competitive intelligence, and trend analysis.
  • Translate insights into actionable strategies for product development and marketing execution.
  • Maintain a forward-looking view of market dynamics to anticipate disruption and opportunity.
  • Ensure insights are shared across functions to advise strategic decisions and innovation priorities.

Influence Product Strategy

  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Management to align product roadmaps with market needs.
  • Ensure marketing input is embedded early in the product development lifecycle.
  • Advocate for customer-centric innovation and usability in solution design.
  • Support prioritization of features and capabilities that drive differentiation and value.

Accelerate Digital Transformation

  • Develop strategies that communicate the value of digital transformation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Align marketing initiatives with broader business transformation goals and milestones.

Elevate Brand and Thought Leadership

  • Define global Pharmacy Automation brand strategy
  • Position BD as a leader in pharmacy automation through strategic content and executive visibility.
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives that reinforce BD’s innovation and operational  impact.
  • Oversee development of high-impact materials including whitepapers, case studies, and keynote presentations.
  • Cultivate relationships with industry influencers, media, and key opinion leaders.

Measure and Optimize Performance

  • Define and track KPIs across campaign performance, lead generation, and portfolio growth.
  • Use analytics to continuously improve marketing effectiveness and ROI.
  • Implement performance dashboards for visibility across global and regional teams.
  • Ensure marketing investments are aligned with strategic priorities and deliver measurable impact.

Lead and Develop Global Teams

  • Build and mentor a high-performing global marketing organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and accountability.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and alignment across geographies and business units.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, science, engineering or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably prior capital experience in the medical device or healthcare technology industry and has proven record of commercial launches
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding of automation platforms is highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong strategic acumen with comfort navigating both high-level planning and day-to-day operational execution.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and inspire across all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to travel 30–40% domestically and internationally to support global teams and customer engagements.
  • Ideally based in Durham, NC
