The Director, Strategic PublicRelationsis responsible forexecuting proactive, high-impact public relations strategies that advance BD’s innovation story as the world’s premier pure-play medical technology company. This role focuses on product,technologyand innovation communications across BD’s high-growth market opportunities within the Medical Essentials, Interventional and BioPharma Systems segments. The position plays a critical role in shapingperceptionof BD across its key stakeholders.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead execution of proactive public relations strategies that elevate BD’s product innovation, technologyleadershipand growth priorities.

  • Drive earned-media storytelling for product launches, regulatory milestones, customerwinsand strategic partnershipsacross priority business segments.

  • Translate complex medical technologies and clinical applications into clear, compelling narratives for business,healthcareand trade media.

  • Develop andmaintainstrong relationships with top-tier national, healthcare,technologyand trade reporters.

  • Prepare senior leaders with messaging, briefing materials and media coaching.

  • Identifymedia trends and white-space opportunities that reinforce BD’s leadership inthe medical technology industry

  • Collaborate closely with social,digitaland content leaders to ensure earned media is amplified throughsocial,ownedand paid channels.

  • Partner with segment, businessunitand marketing teams to align messaging,timingand narrative consistency.

  • Provide issues and crisis communications support as needed, in coordination with PR leadership.

  • Manage external agencies and partners to ensure high-quality execution and accountability.

  • Serve as an active member of the PR leadership teamthat creates an environment in which communicators can thrive in their current roles and grow in their future careers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations,communicationsora relatedfield.

  • Extensive experience in public relations or strategic communications, with a strong emphasis onmedia relations,productPR,and innovation storytelling.

  • Demonstrated success executing proactive earned-media strategies for complex products or technologies.

  • Experience working in healthcare, medical technology, lifesciencesor other highly regulated industries.

  • Ability to distill technical or clinical concepts into clear, media-relevant messaging.

  • Experience supporting issues and crisis communications with sound judgment and message discipline.

  • Exceptional writing,editingand storytelling skills; deep familiarity with AP Style.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills paired with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.

  • Collaborative leadership style with experience partnering across functions and with senior executives.

  • Understandshow earned media integrates with owned,socialand paid channels to drive impact.
