Job Description Summary

Knowledgeable engineering resource to improve the competitiveness of the organization in a
performance-based team environment. Responsible for process capability, cost reduction and
continuous improvement project implementation within their designated manufacturing unit. Provides specific engineering work related to assigned team, with an overlap between engineering disciplines expected. Support capacity planning and growth, as well as define budgeted rates and process documentation. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement, safety enhancements, and cost reductions while implementing BD Excellence work processes
  • Identify critical equipment settings, create standards, and develop technical knowledge for the manufacturing unit
  • Coach associates on continuous improvement methodologies and transfer knowledge to operators
  • Analyze top losses within the manufacturing unit and implement plans to improve OEE performance
  • Manage change control, validation activities, root cause analysis, and quality events
  • Support facility's Quality System and design, develop, qualify, and validate manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Perform mechanical/electrical testing, statistical analysis, and troubleshoot processes
  • Lead projects using independent judgment and provide engineering expertise
  • Train manufacturing employees and serve as technical interface with manufacturing teams

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field OR minimum 5 years engineering experience in manufacturing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Understanding of lean principles and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate initiative
  • Proficiency in machinery design and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of safety standards, quality management systems, and logistics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, statistical analysis, and CAD (Solidworks preferred)
  • Financial management skills and ability to translate technical documents for operators
  • Flexibility with changing priorities and willingness to travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and regulated environments

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to perform gowning procedures and lift up to 35 lbs
  • Medical device manufacturing environment with potential exposure to chemicals
  • Required use of appropriate PPE
  • On-the-job training, SOPs, and GMP compliance required
