The Supervisor Packaging position is responsible for managing, daily all direct and indirect activities performed in the packaging area and the personnel assigned to that department. Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises all personnel assigned to packaging operations in relation to their work schedule, vacations, absences, and daily activities. Actively participates in weekly production planning meetings.
Coordinates and schedules daily functions of the department regarding all filling, labeling, lyophilization, and packaging operations. This requires active involvement and cooperation with materials management, QA, and shipping departments to prioritize or make changes to the schedule to meet customer demands.
Supervises the creation and modification of DIs for the department.
Approves PO requests on equipment, supplies, etc., for department operations in accordance with purchasing limits and specifications.
Generates or reviews document approval forms related to packaging operations.
Generates or reviews deviation waivers related to packaging operations on shop orders.
Responsible for packaging department personnel needs and development (i.e., staffing levels, hiring recommendations, training, etc.).
Interacts with maintenance personnel for preventative maintenance and repair of the departmental facilities and equipment.
Responsible for obtaining maximum efficiency in packaging operations. This includes time studies, data collection, and familiarity with latest filling and packaging technologies available for process improvements (i.e., capping, crimping, printing, etc.).
Responsible, with department manager, for carrying out all internal or external audit recommendations.
Responsible, with department manager, for operating department within approved budget.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to lift 30 pounds repeatedly.
Ability to acceptably don clean room garments and meet all requirements (meet certification standards).
Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours).
Knowledge of clean room (APA) standards and familiarity of running equipment such as filling machines, crimp/labelling machines, freeze dryers, label printing machines along with software.
Education and Experience:
Must be able to safely maneuver heavy boxes, operate pellet jacks or containers using appropriate lifting devices.
Must be able to endure prolonged standing and bending.
Must be able to safely work with chemicals used in manufacturing processes utilizing personal protective equipment.
Must have good manual dexterity in hands.
Must have high visual acuity, (corrected or uncorrected), to be able to detect particulate matter, or non-clarity of products during inspection process.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
