Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for performing all material handling functions within the sterilization department. The individual will be trained to operate and support all areas of the sterilization process.This position is responsible for general warehouse and sterilization functions. This includes forklift, slip sheeter, yard truck and box truck operations necessary for the flow of both sterile and non-sterile products. Responsible for all quality and clerical activities associated with sterilization Material Handling of product. This position is also responsible for general set up, operation, optimization, changeover/troubleshoot and maintenance of assigned department equipment.

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Will perform various jobs per the description requirements of that job at the discretion of department leadership.
Set up, operate and trouble shoot equipment.
Maintain equipment to produce productto meet BD’s Quality Standards.
Repair equipment within Associate’s capability and follow department escalation plan.
Must have mechanical ability and knowledge of proper use of tools, proper troubleshooting and set up procedures.
Assist with radiation emergencies when and if they occur.
Performs general warehouse functions involved with shipping and receiving, delivery of raw materials and finished goods, which includes loading and unloading trucks, material movement transactions in SAP
Operation of material handling equipment (including forklift and slip sheet, yard truck and box truck)
Drive company trucks, including box truck, yard truck and trailer between all plant buildings and warehouse.
Assist operatorin the loading of manually loaded and unloaded products.
Prepareproductfor manual and/or automated processing.
Back trailers to loading docks.
Open and close trailer/container doors.
Load sterilized product on trailers.
Use the load sheet.
Perform the daily yard check.
Place temporary or shipping seals on trailers.
Load pallets intoloadrobot.
Hand load boxes intoloadrobot.
Verify counts of products.
Follow run sheet to ensurecorrectproduct isbeing loaded.
Follow precise written procedures.
Provide training for new associates.
Communicate and maintain a favorable relationship with fellow workers in own and other departments, leadership, vendors and freight companies, etc.
Work with minimal supervision and perform duties in a prompt and professional manner, assuring on-time deliveries of all materials.
Obey all company safety rules and regulations and job safety analysis. Mustknowlockout procedures as described in the corporate Safety Standard 13 and the plant lockout procedure and key interrupt policy.
Authorized to perform SAP transactions.
General housekeeping and clean-up of work area / safety awareness.
TRS participation and other maintenance activities. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership andrequiredto support the needs of the business.
Obey all company policies,standardsand rules, including but not limited to: Safety policies and rules (including lockout procedures); Quality policies and rules
Mustmaintainregular, punctual attendance.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent,required
Vocational/technical school, preferred.
Experience:
1 year warehouse or sterilization experience preferred but notrequired
Forklift – Must be able to obtain within 3 months
Yard Truck Operation – Must be able to operate within a 3-month period.
Must be able to obtain one sterilization job function certification within 6 months, all functions within 1 year
Must have valid drivers’ license
Radiation certification – Must be able to acquire in 12 months
This job is contingent on clearing an FBI background check. You will be required to provide fingerprints to be sent to the FBI. The corporate security officer will determine if the background information will be acceptable for this position.
Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:
Musthave an understanding ofthe SAP process for moving materials into and out of the warehouse.
Have the ability tomove trailers into position for loading and understanding of the loading process.
Knowledge ofthe sterilization operation.
Must be able to prioritize activities using sound business decision-making skills.
Mustunderstand and be familiar with product defects,specificationsand procedures.
Must be able to easily shift from one job to another.
Must understand and be able to complete forms/paperwork for all jobs in the department.
Mustbe able to assist in the training of new personnel in the department.
Must be able to speak,readand write English
Good interpersonal skills
Computer skills (SAP, Excel, Word preferred) - Basic
Physical Demands:
PCP Level 3:Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
Work Environment (if applicable):
High speed manufacturing environment. Mustremain alert and focused.
No air-conditioning in parts ofsterilization/warehousearea.
May have intermittent exposure tochemicals;
Degree of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise,vibrationand chemicals.
When working outside, any & all physical elements of weather & temperature may be present. Inside, noise is the major distraction.
Safety glasses must be worn when in the warehouse.
Some physical exertion, including lifting, may berequired.
