Job Description

We are seeking an experienced R&D Electronics Manager to join our Medication Management Solutions (MMS) R&D team in Limerick. In this leadership role, you will lead a dedicated team of electronic and electrical engineers responsible for the development and support of sophisticated infusion platforms that are making a real impact on patient care globally.


As the R&D Electronics Manager, you will provide both strategic and technical leadership in developing new products as well as supporting existing engineering processes. You will be responsible for driving innovation, developing engineering talent, and delivering high-quality solutions in a highly regulated environment.


Working closely with multi-functional leaders, you will play a key role in advancing BD's infusion technology portfolio while ensuring engineering excellence and product quality throughout the product lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the MMS electrical and electronic engineering team.
  • Provide technical mentorship throughout new product development and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Drive engineering standards, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead complex root cause investigations, failure analysis, and problem-solving activities.
  • Be responsible for CAPA execution, audit readiness, and compliance with quality assurance frameworks.
  • Manage product lifecycle activities, including component obsolescence and EOL replacement strategies.
  • Deliver project plans, timelines, and technical objectives aligned to business priorities.
  • Coach and mentor engineering talent while encouraging a high-performance team culture.


Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, such as Electrical, Biomedical, Mechanical, Systems, Physics or Software Engineering.
  • Significant experience within R&D, product development or technical engineering environments.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching or managing engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and regulated product development.
  • Experience managing complex projects and multidisciplinary engineering activities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within a regulated industry such as Medical Devices, Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial or similar.
  • Knowledge of Mechatronics Analysis and Design.
  • Experience with structured design methodologies such as DFSS or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting complex electronic systems throughout the full product lifecycle.

Location: This position is based at BD's Limerick site, where you will be required to be on site 4 days per week; working within a collaborative and innovative R&D environment.

Our pay is based on the role and the necessary skills and education to perform it successfully. The salary or hourly rate offered is determined by the role's specific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the work location which may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.

€75,900.00 - €115,725.00 EUR Annual
