Job Description

Overview

The leader responsible for business development in BD MDS for Iberia develops and delivers the country/hub business strategy. This includes implementing a customer-centric Go-To-Market approach and market development for Spain and Portugal.

In this role, you are accountable for P&L management of the region/center, setting and achieving business and revenue financial goals and successful performance of entire team, driving balanced, profitable growth and expand market presence of BD MDS, while ensuring full alignment with regional strategic priorities.

As The new CBL MDS, you will lead the country’s sales, clinical and marketing organization, motivating and enabling the team to achieve and exceed sales, profitability, and growth targets through well-adapted execution and performance management.

Strategic vision is key, as well as being proactive and able to grasp business opportunities to ensure growth in Medication Delivery Solutions, demonstrating strong leadership skills to build highly performing cross-functional team, attracting, and developing talent and upscaling their capabilities, driving excellence, learning and continuous improvements.  

Scope:

Revenues approx. $70M, and a team of approximately 40 people.

Main Responsibilities

Business Strategy and Performance

  • Leads the 3-year Strategic, Operational and Financial planning with specific country strategic, tactical and financial plans.

  • Leads the development and the implementation of Go‑To‑Market mode, assessing the needs and plans resources of sales, clinical and marketing teams to respond to market demands, deliver on country objectives and drive growth of strategic products. Builds right capabilities to support performance and growth.

  • Full P&L responsibility, driving profitable growth of the BU in the region, leading business development activities.

  • Maintains high-level customer interfacing daily. Understands key market trends, identifies, and articulates adjacent new opportunities and future risks.

  • Ensuring the development of ambitious but achievable operating plans and budgets for Medication Deliver Solutions BU in the country.

  • Owning the fulfilment of sales plans, positioning/pricing solution and execution of product launch plans, working in close collaboration with European teams to ensure effective leverage of resources and capabilities.

Business Operations and Financials

  • Optimizes country revenue growth and financial performance, improves income.

  • Defines and drives achievement of tactical and financial goals for countries.

  • Leverage sales tools and processes in driving team performance.

  • Establishes the Business Operation Agenda and Planning; ensures coordinated execution from all required resources.

  • Ensures forecasting and demand planning accuracy with forward-looking forecasting and a clear understanding of future risks and opportunities.

  • Leads adoption of and compliance with key business and management processes and tools i.e.SFDC, WinRoom Reviews Monthly Reporting.

Team Leadership

  • Builds a high performing team with a strong winning spirit and high morale and motivation.

  • Coaches and develops business and leadership proficiencies of his direct leadership team.

  • Manages the overall HR activity: acquisition, development and retention of key talent and proficiencies, maintain the highest level of associate engagement.

  • Communicates clearly and manages change.

  • Drives excellence of the business processes and capabilities of the team to meet the business standards.

  • Provides continue feedback for improvement and development.

  • Ensures tight-knit teamwork within the team as well as with the rest of the BD organization.

Requirements

Experience and education required:

  • Consistent track record in multiyear business management and leading commercial teams

  • Experience in medical devices/life sciences industry.

  • Masters' degree, MBA or Post-graduate qualification

  • Experience of working in a matrix organization

Skills required:

  • Results orientation combined with expertise in sales, marketing and business management,

  • Operational leadership starting with outstanding customer-centricity, ability to translate customer strategy into pragmatic execution plans and driving execution rigor,

  • Critical thinking

  • Growth mindset combined with a strong learning ability

  • Strong people leadership operating based on trust and engagement with the team & individuals        

  • Ability to empower and drive teams to deliver results,

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong mental agility, analytical and fact-based decision-making skills.

  • Financial competence including full P&L management.

  • Ability to effectively and work cross-functionally, with key functions such as operations, supply chain, finance, HR.

Other requirements include:

Ability and willingness to travel extensively across the region.
