Job Description Summary
The Manufacturing Unit Leader will have overall ownership of production, processes, and people included in the respective Manufacturing Unit and will be fully responsible to deliver upon SQDC targets, to eliminate losses in the area through Line Centric Organizational (LCO) model and to grow the capability of the team.This role has responsibility for the designated product line including setting goals, making decisions, and driving accountability toward department objectives in the designated Manufacturing Unit.

As a Manufacturing Unit Leader, you'll be the driving force behind operational success, championing both people and processes to achieve remarkable results. This pivotal role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution to create a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Strategic Leadership & Performance Management
- Strategic Accountability: Take ownership of key strategic initiatives, operational targets, and functional goals that directly impact business success
- Priority Management: Orchestrate and drive all manufacturing unit activities with clear prioritization
- Resource Optimization: Develop and manage the manufacturing unit's budget and staffing levels to ensure optimal resource allocation
- Goal Setting & Communication: Establish and communicate ambitious SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) goals that inspire your team to excellence
- Change Leadership: Proactively initiate and champion change initiatives to ensure both short and long-term SQDC goals are consistently achieved
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Performance Cascading: Transform high-level manufacturing targets into specific, actionable goals for individual lines, areas, and workplaces
- TMS Cycle Management: Lead the Total Manufacturing System cycle, providing clear 24-hour direction for the entire manufacturing unit
- DTM Leadership: Spearhead Daily Team Management activities, creating effective work processes like Continuous Improvement Lists (CIL) and Control Lists (CL)
- Improvement Programs: Champion BDPS (Business Driven Production System) and CI (Continuous Improvement) initiatives throughout your manufacturing unit
- Production Scheduling: Partner with Logistics to establish production schedules and monitor delivery performance against targets
Leadership Excellence & Team Development
- Operational Mastery: Develop expertise in operations, people management, and Line Central Organization (LCO)
- Floor Presence: Spend over 50% of your time on the production floor, actively engaging with teams and processes
- Leadership Impact: Demonstrate sound leadership, reliable decision-making, and appropriate ownership of organizational objectives
- Team Development: Mentor Line Central Organization to drive results through production excellence, associate capability development, and ownership
- Problem Resolution: Address manufacturing issues promptly while exemplifying servant leadership principles
Performance Management & Associate Development
- Performance Reviews: Conduct comprehensive annual performance evaluations while ensuring each team member has an active development plan
- Regular Check-ins: Hold consistent one-on-one meetings with team members to review performance and facilitate professional growth
- Associate Assessment: Ensure timely, accurate evaluations of hourly associates through effective coaching activities
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with associates to address concerns, partnering with HR when appropriate
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and 10 years manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment with demonstrated progressive and dynamic leadership experience OR
Bachelor's Degree inIndustrial Management, Engineering or a related field and 5 years manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment with demonstrated progressive and dynamic leadership experience
Experience with the industry standard of cell structured organizations.
