Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director Plant QA, the Senior Quality Technical Leader leads plantwide initiatives, improvement projects, and is the main quality support for large capital projects. This role may also provide direct management to quality improvement staff. The role significantly influences the improvement of processes and controls that maintain the quality of our product. Through outstanding communication, effective problem solving and active management of ambiguous situations this position ensures product safety, product quality, and compliance with all relevant global regulations and customer expectations. Success is measured in terms of the frequency and scale of product quality investigations and improvements as well as business process effectiveness.Job Description

Responsibilities
- Primary technical lead for quality investigations and solving of large issues as well as high capital projects.
- Program and Project Manager for continuous improvement activities within Sandy Site.
- Assists Associate Director in strategy development for the site and for communication of status updates and business objectives.
- Assists in internal and external audits.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic quality plan to continuously improve the quality of the product and processes.
- Assist Quality Supervisors, Quality Engineers, Production Managers, Process Engineers and Supervisors on identification of root cause of quality problems on floor or customer complaints. Works with the Design Center Quality Management to drive investigations for product issues in the field and assists with the preparation of Situation Analyses.
- Familiar with new product development to support product and process development in the manufacturing site and assist with Design Transfer of products from design to manufacturing.
- Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations.

Qualifications
Education
- BS degree in Engineering or Life Sciences;
- Master's degree in business or engineering (preferred)
Experience
- 5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment required
- Minimum 3 years Managerial experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Plant
Certifications
- ASQ
- Six Sigma
Knowledge
- ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, and MDSAP regulatory and quality system knowledge
- Provides technical knowledge and expertise related to process technologies not currently employed at BD
Skills
- Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
- Applies and / or develops highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts.Viewed as expert within the field

Work Environment
- This position is often in a clean room or laboratory manufacturing environment and the physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

- The incumbent may be frequently required to stand and/or occasionally sit for extended periods of time.
- The position will almost always have exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, and potential temperature fluctuations.

- The incumbent may be exposed to noise levels in the work environment moderate to loud.
- The incumbent must be willing and able to wear required PPE such as, safety glasses, face mask and/or shield, hearing protection, safety shoes, hair and beard net and smock.
