Job Description Summary

This position requires a motivated and detail-oriented Junior EHS Specialist to support our Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives in a fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance. This position will assist in implementing EHS programs, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies and procedures.

  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

  • Support incident investigations and help develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and compliance documentation.

  • Help coordinate employee EHS training programs, including onboarding and refresher courses.

  • Monitor and report on environmental metrics such as waste disposal, recycling, and energy usage.

  • Assist with regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other applicable standards.

  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Levels of Supervision: None, Small Team (1-~10), Medium Team (~10-20) or Large Team (>20)

This position has the following level of supervision:

  • Other People Leaders: None

  • Exempt Associates: None

  • Hourly Associates: None

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, preferred.

  • 0–2 years of experience in EHS, preferably in a manufacturing or medical device environment.

  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and FDA regulations.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with EHS management systems is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • BD is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals.  Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. 

  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
