Job Description Summary

The Field Assurance Analyst Returns Specialist will be responsible for the execution of product complaint sample return evaluation and investigation activities. Ensuring complaint handling tasks are completed as required and are compliant with internal procedures and applicable external, industry regulations/standards. The Field Assurance Analyst Returns Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions within the FA Returns Lab.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Documenting complaint product sample receipt date. 

  • Decontamination of returned product samples.

  • Coordinate product transfers to and from external manufacturing sites.

  • Evaluate and investigate product sample returns to assist in determining the most probable root cause of the complaint and document accurate investigation findings in the complaint handling system.

  • Maintain the Field Assurance Lab. Ensure Lab is clean and in good order. Items are properly labeled as potential biohazard material as received and adhered to all required safety protocols.  

  • Support lab biohazard waste disposal in conjunction with BD facilities leaders.

  • Identify and escalate quality issues and identify changes in (MDR/MDV) reportability based on sample return condition.

  • Support internal and external audits as needed.

  • Complete mandatory training by established due dates and always maintain training compliance.

  • Comply with BD Procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree required. BS/BA preferred.

  • 1-3 years of experience in complaint handling, quality control, manufacturing or related function in the medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech or equivalent industry.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, required.

  • Proficiency in common computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook).

  • Familiarity with medical device industry and regulatory requirements, preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Handling of returned packages.

Work Environment

  • Field Assurance Lab: Contains regulated medical waste, and potentially contaminated product complaint samples. Requires wearing PPE and performing lab maintenance activities including decontamination of surfaces.

Training Requirements

  • Job Code training matrix is as follows: 290001 See SUR-JA-0017A or Local Training Support personnel for assistance.
