Job Description Summary

The Biosurgery WW Platform is responsible for growing the global business reach of BD Interventional Biosurgery product offerings. This intern will provide support to the Global and US Marketing teams as well as assist on multiple cross-functional projects. The ideal candidate for this position is highly motivated to grow within the organization in the future, thrives in an environment of creativity and accountability, and can perform at a high level across a wide array of assignments.

Under the leadership and direction of associates within the Global Biosurgery Marketing team, this semester long internship will offer the opportunity for a student to gain experience by assisting in the execution of internal marketing and sales acceleration initiatives, as well as the analysis of monthly financial documents and organizing data into comprehensible presentations for a leading global medical device company.

This position also entails assisting with regulatory and commercialization activities for new product launches in key regions. The Global Marketing Intern will be responsible for organizing and tracking the Product Release to Market and Country Launch Preparedness (PRM/CLP) process for the release of products into international markets. This intern will also gain exposure to global business, product development, RA systems, and commercial strategies.

The position also offers opportunities to participate in data gathering and analysis, daily meetings with team members, individual monthly country meetings, attend other company meetings, and will have the opportunity to participate in several 1:1 meetings with the leadership at BD to discuss career options in the medical device field.

This position will report to the Senior Global Marketing Manager of Hemostats. This is a paid position.

Schedule:

  • Position will be part-time, with flexible working hours during summer/fall semester (12-18 Month intern duration commitment)

  • Position requires full-time (40 hours/week) during summer semester

  • During regular business hours 8AM-5PM Monday – Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and tracking of marketing tools and systems while preparing monthly financial documents and summaries for management review, ensuring proper resource allocation and budget adherence.

  • Manage internal approval processes for global claims and marketing collateral while supporting rebranding initiatives for hemostats and sealants, ensuring consistent messaging and regulatory compliance across markets.

  • Create marketing insights, reports, and support presentations while maintaining competitive activity tracking systems to provide the Biosurgery Platform team with actionable intelligence for strategic decision-making.

  • Track PRMs and CLPs for international product launches while assisting with commercial readiness efforts, ensuring smooth market entry and coordinating with cross-functional teams for successful product introductions.

  • Participate in team meetings, support R&D benchtop testing initiatives, and execute special projects as assigned, serving as a vital link between marketing, R&D, and commercial teams to drive business objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Business or other applicable undergrad or masters level program (e.g. MBA) with an interest or focus in marketing or healthcare

  • Excellent personal communication skills

  • Effectively prioritizes and allocates resources to drive most impactful business outcomes

  • Must have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously

  • Must be able to prioritize responsibilities

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrate ability to effectively work across departments, coordinating with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and sales teams to ensure seamless product development and market implementation.

  • Showcase exemplary written and verbal communication skills necessary for creating technical documentation, presenting to stakeholders, and translating complex medical concepts into accessible information.

  • Exhibit self-motivation and ability to work independently while applying both abstract and concrete problem-solving approaches to overcome technical challenges and regulatory hurdles in medical device development.

  • Demonstrate comfort and efficiency working in high-accountability settings with shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and evolving regulatory requirements common in the medical device industry.

  • Possess working knowledge of essential tools like PowerPoint and Excel, coupled with exceptional drive to build a long-term career specifically in the medical device sector.
