Job Description

Overview

Join BD's manufacturing team in Tuas as a Manufacturing Equipment Technician, where you will play a critical hands-on role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated assembly equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in assembly equipment maintenance, machine troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, machine setup, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance on automated assembly equipment and manufacturing machinery.

  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and machine faults to minimize downtime and restore production efficiently.

  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and process-related issues affecting equipment performance.

  • Carry out equipment servicing, parts replacement, calibration, and machine adjustments as required.

  • Escalate and support resolution of complex technical issues with Engineers and Subject Matter Experts.

Machine Setup & Production Support

  • Perform machine setup, tool and die changes, equipment adjustments, and product changeovers.

  • Support production operations by ensuring equipment availability, reliability, and optimal performance.

  • Monitor equipment conditions and recommend improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

  • Conduct equipment inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Training & Technical Support

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to Technicians and Operators on equipment operation and troubleshooting.

  • Support onboarding and technical training for new team members.

  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges.

Requirements

  • NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related disciplines.

  • Experience in equipment maintenance, machine troubleshooting, or manufacturing technical support within a production environment.

  • Hands-on experience maintaining automated assembly equipment, production machinery, or high-volume manufacturing systems preferred.

  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems, mechanical components, sensors, motors, actuators, and machine setup activities.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments is an advantage.
