DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role has an approximate allocation of 65% payroll responsibilities and 35% employee relations responsibilities.
Payroll Administration
Manage payroll processing for Puerto Rico employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
Ensure compliance with Puerto Rico and federal payroll regulations (e.g., taxes, deductions, statutory benefits).
Process payroll-related transactions.
Coordinate with Finance to ensure proper payroll accounting, reconciliations, and reporting.
Partner with external vendors for payroll processing and issue resolution including time clocks situations.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
Prepare and validate payroll reports, audits, and compliance documentation.
Filing of Chauffer Insurance and Worker’s Compensation payroll returns.
Employee Relations
Support and manage end-to-end employee relations cases, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
Provide guidance to people leaders and employees on company policies, workplace practices, and compliance requirements.
Assist in drafting disciplinary documentation, performance improvement plans, and employee communications.
Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment laws.
Track and analyze employee relations trends and provide insights to leadership.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper documentation of all ER cases.
Interact continuously with the global ER team and keep the case management system up to date.
Compliance, Risk Management and Others
Ensure adherence to Puerto Rico labor laws and applicable federal regulations (e.g., wage and hour laws, leave policies).
Support audits and compliance reviews related to payroll and employee relations.
Stay current on legislative updates impacting payroll and employee relations practices in Puerto Rico.
Maintain accurate and auditable documentation for all payroll and ER activities.
Support Day 1 onboarding (such as I-9 agent) as needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Strong knowledge of Puerto Rico labor laws and payroll regulations.
Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
Excellent communication skills.
Bilingual (English & Spanish)
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of Navex system a plus.
Willing to travel as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
As a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Labor Relations, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
Experience managing payroll in Puerto Rico.
Experience handling employee relations cases and investigations.
