The Sr Director, Products & Marketing for Single Cell Multiomics (scM) will lead the global marketing function for Single Cell Multiomics including the BD Rhapsody Single Cell Analysis Platform & Assays (WTA, Targeted gene expression, TCR/BCR, ATAC-seq, BD AbSeq Portfolio, Multiplexing kits and other new technology platforms). The incumbent will be accountable for taking critical decisions into running the Single Cell Multiomics portfolio, including portfolio strategy, new product development, developing and driving marketing plans, P&L management / optimization and developing marketing competencies within the worldwide and regional teams. They are accountable for the global financial performance of the solutions tied to strategic plan commitments. 
They will be an important member of the Single Cell Multiomics Platform Team representing worldwide and regional marketing for portfolio, go-to-market and commercial execution related decisions and investments. They will be a member of the scM Platform Leadership Team representing the global and regional marketing functions. They will also lead the US region marketing for single cell multiomics. The incumbent will lead a team of associates including both marketers and global customer support team. They will provide direction and oversight across the portfolio on both upstream and downstream activities. They will also oversee significant projects and annual planning tasks, including Portfolio Review, Annual Review, Marketing Plan, and Budget. It is anticipated that this role will have a cross functional leadership team (direct and matrix) to lead approximately 6-8 marketing associates as well as a large group of extended functional leaders. 

Additional specific responsibilities include: 

  • Leads change and drives profitable growth for the Single Cell Multiomics business and embeds a strong customer centric focus into portfolio and resource decisions. 

  • Responsible for financial analysis of business results, including market share, revenue forecasts, pricing and exclusivity, financial planning, budget and P&Ls (risk exposure). 

  • Involved in the development of materials for periodic management reviews with the Single cell Multiomics Platform and BDB leadership. 

  • Leads identification and selection of the most promising business opportunities for Single Cell Multiomics.  

  • Leads the acceleration of product development and successful commercialization of new products. 

  • Creates/sets the short-term and long-term direction and strategies for Single Cell Multiomics, including strategic planning for projected financial outcomes, working with the regional and functional teams. 

  • Develops and manages new product development portfolio for Single Cell Multiomics in partnership with R&D. Provides worldwide sustaining engineering/product support leadership direction. 

  • Monitors and ensures proper communication of relevant market trends, regulations and policy to ensure continuing strategic fit. 

  • Develops and manages the Single Cell Multiomics team’s worldwide manufacturing/supply chain needs jointly with Operations and in setting short-term and long-term manufacturing strategy and capacity planning. 

  •  Oversees market research to assess awareness and perception and inform development/refinement of Single Cell Multiomics platform/product brand and product development. 

  • Oversees marketing mix strategy and development and communication of the brand strategy through relevant media channels, advertising placement, etc., including digital strategy, including website and online media in partnership with Global Marketing. 

  • Defines and drives execution of Single Cell Multiomics portfolio strategy, product roadmap and priorities for specified market segment in partnership with Marketing and other key functions.   

  • Maintains strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, professional associations, and advisory boards in partnership with Scientific Affairs. 

  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team. 


Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Genomics, Immunology, Biology or a relevant field.  PhD or MBA preferred. 

  • Minimum 10 years of business experience in the life sciences or medical device industry, including 7-10 years in marketing, new product commercialization, product marketing or strategic planning. Professional experience in the fields of Genomics or Immuno-oncology is highly preferred. 

  • Consistent success in upstream and downstream marketing, including ability to partner with R&D and oversee/lead teams on new product development, including product roadmaps and gated new product development activities supporting new project concept, definition, development, launch and commercialization. 

  • Consistent track record in strategic marketing, including market segmentation, customer segmentation, targeting, value proposition development, positioning, promotion, pricing, forecast, budget and performance management. Proven ability to partner with Sales organization. 

  • Demonstrated strategic thinker, organized problem solving with strategic agility. 

  • Comfortable in a global, fast-paced, always-on, highly matrixed environment 

  • Demonstrated customer centric behaviors to drive a culture of engagement and successful business growth. 

  • Establishes leadership credibility based on integrity, ownership of a decision, and a track record of achievement in delivering large and/or multiple complex projects and influencing business outcomes. 

  • Solid business acumen and knowledge of life sciences market environment. 

  • Strong ability to develop robust, data-based business cases 

  • Demonstrated strategic agility to develop and implement business strategies and implement innovative problem-solving approaches to deliver results. 

  • Optimized execution:  Good planning and organizational skills and ability to accelerate the pace of completing priorities to meet or deliver earlier than customer expectations. 

  • Global and Collaborative: Ability to work across all regions globally at both an executive and tactical level. Can operate successfully in a multi-matrix business environment. 

  • Effective Talent Development: Proven track-record of developing others in a cross functional team environment and maximizing resources provided.  Takes action to assure organizational capabilities are in place to achieve strategy and develop a strong succession candidate pool of leaders at all levels. 

  • Exhibits leadership courage and agility in leading problem resolution and decision making.  

  • Communicates messages with clarity and conciseness for a global audience.   Speaks up/constructively challenges when important questions must be raised or shared. 

  • Shows intellectual curiosity and cultivates innovation to include making efficiency improvements as a way of doing business and to accelerate the pace of change.
