Job Description
I. Position Summary
- Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing post-sales technical support for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of instruments supplied by the Waters Biosciences business.
- The primary focus of this role is supporting flow cytometry instruments and associated systems.
- Candidate will ensure high instrument uptime, deliver excellent customer service, support revenue-generating service activities, and contribute to the technical development of the service team.
- Responsible for carrying out maintenance during warranty & contract period.
II. Key Responsibilities
Technical Service and Support
- Install and commission instruments as per the guideline of GDPMS and company procedure.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) activities within established service schedules.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve instrument hardware and software issues reported by customers.
- Provide maintenance and repair support for instruments under warranty and service contracts.
- Ensure all service activities are properly documented and reported.
Customer Training and Support
- Train customers on instrument operation, basic maintenance procedures, and best practices.
- Enhance customers' understanding of Biosciences products and their applications.
- Provide timely and professional technical support to maximize customer satisfaction.
Business and Revenue Contribution
- Achieve or exceed assigned annual service revenue targets.
- Support service contract renewals and service-related commercial activities.
- Review and recommend annual pricing adjustments for service contracts and spare parts within Singapore.
Teamwork and Technical Leadership
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and instrument training to service engineers when required.
- Assist team members in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the service organization.
Inventory and Planning
- Plan and monitor monthly spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance kit requirements.
- Ensure sufficient stock availability to support service demands and minimize instrument downtime.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management to support business and customer requirements.
III. Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Life Sciences, or related technical discipline.
IV. Other Qualifications - Professional Certification/Key Licenses
- Not Required
V. Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in instrumentation (Preferable biomedical/Biotech Lab instruments)
- Experience with biomedical, biotechnology, clinical laboratory, or analytical instruments is preferred.
- Experience servicing flow cytometry instruments is an advantage.
VI. Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong technical background in instrument installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Experience in flow cytometry instrumentation and troubleshooting preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and fault-diagnosis skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support service contract discussions and customer engagement activities.
- Ability to work effectively within a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
- Strong customer service orientation and relationship management skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and guide team members when required.
- Good planning, organizational, and inventory management skills.
