Advanced Patient Monitoring (APM)

BD Advanced Patient Monitoring is a global leader in advanced monitoring solutions that expands BD's portfolio of smart connected care solutions with its growing set of leading monitoring technologies, advanced AI-enabled clinical decision tools and robust innovation pipeline. BD Advanced Patient Monitoring's technologies are often used simultaneously with the BD Alaris™ Infusion System in the operating room or intensive care units. The combination of BD's new advanced monitoring and existing infusion platforms enables future innovation opportunities for closed-loop hemodynamic monitoring and IV fluid and medication administration by integrating combined company data sets and interoperability capabilities.

The Senior Director of Clinical Services – Strategy leads the Performance Partners team within the Clinical Services Group (CSG) and under the direction of the SVP of Clinical Services, drives the strategy for communicating outcome metrics to IDN leaders, clinicians, external payment stakeholders, and governmental agencies. The overarching goal of Clinical Services is to provide IDNs and large academic hospitals with innovative products and process‑oriented solutions that improve outcomes for patients facing critical illness and demonstrate the measurable benefits of Advanced Patient Monitoring (APM) technologies.

This role has a dual focus: demonstrating measurable economic value to hospital administration and c-suite leadership (top down) and demonstrating clinical and service benefits to clinicians and frontline stakeholders (bottom up). As a strategic leadership and advisory position, the Senior Director guides the integration of evidence‑based clinical programs across healthcare systems to support sustained improvements in patient outcomes.

The Senior Director will collaborate with external stakeholders to leverage performance measures that inform payor policy, thus strengthening customer loyalty and product utilization. The role is also responsible for assisting the APM marketing and clinical teams with high‑level clinical outcome discussions and the development of external‑facing publications.

Aligned with APM strategic initiatives (e.g., fluid optimization for at‑risk or high‑risk surgery and sepsis management), the Senior Director will develop, implement, measure, and report on the value and effectiveness of these programs, globally. By coordinating with field and corporate resources, this role will play a critical part in driving sustainable adoption of APM products at the c‑suite level and across enterprise customers.

Additionally, the Senior Director will engage external stakeholders through a formal advisory process to support broader corporate adoption of monitoring products and may assume additional responsibilities as needed to further organizational objectives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Initiate, manage, and enhance customer‑facing relationships with C‑suite leaders, influential hospital administrators, reimbursement teams, and payors through exemplary interpersonal skills, diplomacy, customer insight, and effective written communication.

  • Create, analyze and present metrics of success at hospital and IDN levels; to include revenue generation, average length of stay, mortality rates, infection rates or other complication rates and/or other critical measures. Based on retrospective analysis, create dashboards and other reporting mechanisms to provide guidance for APM leaders in business planning activities.

  • Collaborate in sharing best practices, team meetings and program outcomes on a quarterly basis (minimum).

  • Primarily responsible for leading measurement of Clinical Pilots which lead to successful deployment of APM devices and disposables. 

  • Measures key quality metrics at the facility level to ensure sustained compliance with the overall goal to drive the adoption of APM products by rapid acceptance of applicable measures.

  • Responsible for the direct management of the Clinical Data team and for establishing workflow assignments to ensure effective data management across implementation sites.

  • Serves as a resource to internal and external stakeholders, leveraging insights gained from direct IDN leadership interactions to provide relevant input to critical discussions and to help drive clinical, economic, and payment conversations.

  • Collects data, develops messaging related to the clinical implementation process, translates findings into actionable market strategies, and incorporates primary and secondary clinical research into new business practices.

Required Education / Skills / Experience

  • 15+ years of medical/clinical experience with a masters in a healthcare data or reimbursement profession.

  • Total of 10+ years of leadership experience across healthcare administration, healthcare consulting, and reimbursements.

  • Critical Care or cardiovascular disease management experience is required.

  • Capital equipment and device sales are highly preferred.

  • Strong demonstration of clinical aptitude

  • Preferred experience in hospital executive management

  • Deep customer knowledge and credibility to influence C‑suite leaders and healthcare providers.

  • Provide strategic clinical and economic insight to key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Partner effectively with IDNs and large academic hospitals to drive the implementation of robust clinical programs.

  • Maintain and enhance relationships with key thought leaders in the medical community.

  • Assist in the success of clinical research related programs necessary to support evidence-based offerings.

  • Ability to multitask with diverse levels and groups of people while effectively prioritizing projects.

  • Ability to present to all levels of management, moderate programs, and maintain strong interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills.

  • Results‑oriented and reliable leader with intellectual curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit who challenges the status quo and seeks opportunities to enhance efficiencies and proactively resolve issues.

  • Must have experience in developing compelling business cases and influencing management to action.

  • Must be able to travel as required; estimate 80% of the time. Will include travel outside of the U.S.
